Hi there
I have a problem when I want to run Windows Update, it starts downloading and installing the updates but 2/3 of the way it fails all updates with error code 800736B3. I tried to do a manual update on Service Pack 1 but I get an error also 2/3 of the way : ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_NOT_FOUND (0x800736b3). I tried installing the updates 1 by 1 but still the same error no matter what the update. I also found that there is Kernel panic in the log.
I also did a sfc /scannow but no luck. I tried to do a Windows repair with the installation disk by selecting "Upgrade" in the installation menu but that also doesn't fix my problem. I did a virus scan using Microsoft Essentials and had no luck. I also did a scan in Safe Mode with Networking using http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm which I found in another forum suggesting that it might be a hijackware infection but again no luck. I ran a Windows Fix It which I found on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/KB971058. I also tried the Windows Update troubleshooter. The Firewall and Essentials is turned off. I ran the fix on http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...stalling/735140b2-ce4b-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5 which is the SFC SCAN and running the system update readiness tool but also no luck.
Reloading Windows is not an option.
