Uncapped ADSL bundle price reduction

Also never heard of them... But just checked their website, they use IS backbone. And apparently those prices for uncapped bundled accounts include unshaped data! :O How is that even possible?

It is unshaped, however throttling does apply "The top 20% of users in each product set will be throttled on all related protocols that Internet Solutions deems to be abuse or file sharing over a rolling 10 day period."

The thing about that kind of throttling is that the usage of the top 20% of users will keep decreasing over time. Eventually people will start getting throttled after as little as, say, 10GB.

if that is the case then by that time the throttling would make very little difference in service levels.

I vote for MyBB to stop posting ADSL specials until the new speed doubling pricing from Telkom comes into effect and we can see how prices are influenced.

It's possible because on say the 4mb it's still being resold for about R150 more than cost.

Suckers!

Go Grahamstown!

Haha they sell it cheap because they don't mind making little but having more users. Quite a few people in Grahamstown use Imaginet so they have a good client base.

If only that were the case :p Sadly while companies like IS might be selling it at a greater markup (although I have no insight into what this figure may be), the price made available to small ISPs for resale leaves very little in the way of margins.
