Uncapped Telkom LTE for R899

Just a bad bad bad move by Telkom overall.

I really hope Sipho reads this thread.

Uncapped Telkom LTE for R899

Telkom has released it Big Deal for June 2019.

The deal is a SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless All-Hours fixed-LTE package from the operator, available for R899 per month on a 24-month contract.
Fully uncapped at 2mbs is like 2005 speeds. Max 10mbs speed is also way too low measured at today's standards. Currently have Fixed Wireless broadband @20mbs fully uncapped, slight throttling down to 15mbs or so. Fibre currently installed in my area, soon fully uncapped at 100mbs up to 300GB, after that 50mbs. :-)))

At 10 mbps it's a fail and that is only 150gig. More than that you are throttled to a stand still.
I fully agree, 10mbs speed is way too low. I'm running at 20mbs fixed wireless broadband, until Vumatel's Fibre is installed by the end of the month, then I'm moving over to 100mbs@300GB, after that throttling at 50mbs. :-))

It is uncapped!
Uncapped in S.A is a different concept to what the rest of the world's used to. We are still way behind compared to the rest of the world with internet, although we're thankfully catching up now with Fibre, but we still have some way to go of course.

It's pretty bold on their website with the sole intention to fool non technical people.

End of story, it's a scum move and I won't think much of any one who endorse that.
No one is endorsing it. There is a difference between endorsing something and seeing things for what it actually is. Don't take this the wrong way, but why don't you go complain to Huawei? This is how they spec their product. The funny part of all of this? The router can achieve those speeds according to the Huawei Data sheets (https://consumer.huawei.com/za/smart-home/b525/specs/).

Its hardly a fail just because its limited to 10Mbps. To people who don't have a lot of options this will be a good deal.

Apples and Oranges. Two very different technologies with different costs involved and different business models. Can't expect wireless technologies to be set up and priced the same as Fibre.

This. My 100Mbps uncapped account from Cool Ideas is a little more expensive than this, but is truly uncapped and unshaped.

It's pointless comparing fibre to LTE. Completely different technologies and inherent design capacity.

Clearly people are expecting 100Mbps uncapped and unthrottled internet at R899 a month.
