Uncapped Telkom LTE for R899

Yeah well my 100 gig fat pipe account for R80 is also uncapped. I can use as much as it want after hours. The point here is why throttle LTE to 2mbps to make it uncapped.

To stop abuse on limited capacity on LTE towers. It's pretty obvious.

Still does not make sense seeing for R100 odd more you can get 200 GB + 200 GB at full speed from the same company.

By throttling the rate you are capped in terms of how much you could potentially download.

Stream 1080p most of the time, Yes.
Game downloads and updates are 100gb at least, on a monthly basis

Hardly a fail, its a good deal for someone who is outside of Fibre and ADSL coverage.

That's the whole issue, you can get much better with Fibre and ADSL.

No one is endorsing it. There is a difference between endorsing something and seeing things for what it actually is. Don't take this the wrong way, but why don't you go complain to Huawei? This is how they spec their product. The funny part of all of this? The router can achieve those speeds according to the Huawei Data sheets (https://consumer.huawei.com/za/smart-home/b525/specs/).

Telkom's smoking something new here. 2mbps isn't so bad if it's priced reasonably like R100. Asking R899 for something that's so limited as well is just missing the market entirely when Rain gives you a full speed connection for R250.

Being capped means your data cuts off at a given threshold.

Throttled means you are limited to a certain speed. Learn the terminology.

By your stupid definition, you are capped even if you have a 1Gbps connection, as you can only download so much at 1Gbps.

R549 for me per month and use as much as i like.

Download - Speeds of 10Mbps - 15Mbps
Upload - Speeds of 4Mbps - 8Mbps

My average Download is Between 200 - 250 Gigs Per Month

250 GB @ R549 = I am OK with that pricing around R2-22 a Gigabyte I am happy to Pay.

Anything else is a rip off for me.

If Telkom had priced this offer at R499 or R399 then it would have made commercial sense and attracted alot of customer attention but this is just over pricing with this offer.

1. you are comparing two very different mediums expecting pricing to be the same, when in reality they shouldn't be compared. ADSL/Fibre is not LTE. They don't even work on the same business models.

It's not sneaky. It's uncapped. There is no advertising trickery.

They advertise that it's a throttled connection, and give you the throttle threshold. How hard is that to grasp? Telkom are not hiding their threshold limits, so why is it sneaky? You know what you are going to get.

The lack of comprehension in this thread is quite astonishing.
