Never thought I would say this but I am actually really enjoying being on Unity. This is after giving KDE and both Gnome 2 and Gnome 3 its best shot. Basically I was having stability issues with apps and the OS on gnome and KDE. Things would crash randomly and it was getting frustrating. I decided to suck it up and give Unity another go. Once you customize it its actually pretty stable and fluid.
For some reason I cant live without a Task Bar. I need one in my life so I installed Tint2 and this meets all my task bar needs. I treat the current launcher like a "Start Menu" and have it auto hide when not in use.
I also installed tilda for my terminal needs and have customized that nicely.
So now I have a decent, stable desktop with full functionality. Right now of all the desktops, Unity is my favorite.
I know you get lighter ones like XFCE and co, but I like a little eye candy and bling in my desktop life.
Any suggestions, tips or tricks on how to improve the Unity experience?
