From my experience on campus they want the white man out...

Deface on major sponsor of the University (Merensky) and call it a relic to Apartheid? To be honest, I hope the the Merensky fund withdraw all their funding, because as they put it he was a racist and a pig from the apartheid and they want nothing to do with him and his kind...

There was change. All classes are in English and a few selected once are presented in Afrikaans, but you still have that class being presented in English on another time slot and in most cases on the same time slot.

See, they asking for compulsory African language classes. Wasting tax money and whatnot.

Also not, the demands are non-negotiable. Well, then ignoring the demands can also be non-negotiable.

I also thought that there is need for more universities but with failure rate of 85% more universities would not help at all.
It would be just drain on finances.

I have simple solution:
1) Government only finances scarce skills (Medicine, engineering, teaching...)
2) Entrance exam:
3 relevant subjects for particular study profile each worth 20 points
matric result worth 40 points.
Add all up and make ranking.

With ranking like this you can also do:
If 400 places are available:
1) first 200 res and tuition free
2) next 100 tuition free
2) last 100 pay all

And if we do this I bet you could push over 50% pass rate.

Well then we have other option:
1) Donors and sponsors stop giving money since it is really bad ROI
2) As with every organisation best professors would leave since they have options
3) Research funding will dry up
4) Due to standards dropping paying students leave

Result:
1) bankrupt UNI
2) worthless degrees

I'm not sure but by the ago of 10 kids should be fully aware of cause and consequence relation.
 
Just to add, while all of this is happening and learning is interrupted India and China are producing engineers by the thousands at much higher level.

Afrikaans enjoys some special flower status in SA. As we move towards it being the same as 9 other official languages, excluding English, some people will scream blue murder.

Also, earlier in the thread I saw a photo set up to compare UP yesterday to the death of Hector Peterson, I think that the levels of casualty show the difference. Also, one is a protest of different groups of students, the other was students vs police.

This is an eye opener for me. As I chat with people here it is slowly dawning on me that they really think they are the oppressed. Certainly something that I should take into in the future.

I actually got it slightly wrong. It's actually "When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression." Same sentiment, though.

Your problem is that you think you need to drag the "priviledged" down to get to their level. Destroy, burn, attack.

You should be looking to elevate yourselves. Instead all you do is go on about entitlement and either destroy or squeal in delight on the sidelines like a bunch of filthy pigs while your comrades destroy everything of value around them.
