The one and only solution is for all public institutions of higher leaning be normalized to English. You can speak Afrikaans at home but do not bring it to our public institutions.

That only works if you apply the same logic to primary schools as well. Otherwise you are seriously disadvantaging everyone who doesn't go to an English school.

Nope you're wrong once again...

Afrikaans has been a language of tuition at said university since inception coupled with English. Instead of removing Afrikaans, add more. It's not about being sensitive... If you can't see the idiotic argument behind it I can't help... They already have English as a language of tuition, there is no need to remove Afrikaans. If certain subjects are in Afrikaans only, then add English or Pedi or whatever. There is no need to remove any.

Black people have been dealing with that "serious disadvantage" for ages already. I am sure Afrikaans speaking people will cope.

Yeah, but then private afrikaans universities will pop up and this **** will start again.

Reality is, these 'students' know afrikaans is the main language at UP, yet have enrolled anyway purely to cause **** about it. All the videos, messages etc around the web show it. Its all about race... it not unique to UP, all universities, savage war mongering racist thugs. If UP didn't have Afrikaans, it would be about something else.

This whole protest isn't about the language... It's black vs white. Simple as that, there is nothing else there. What these morons don't understand is that Afrikaans is the 3rd most spoken language in South Africa even more than English. I have no issue with tuition in English I'm actually for it. But to remove other languages just because if retarded to say the least.

And I would feel exactly the same for any institution with any language. If you have a Zulu school, I would also be just as vocal if there were calls for it to be changed to English only.

Ina country with 11 official languages you logic is not practical. Things change and times a have changed and Afrikaans has lost its relevance in today's would outside of the home environment.

Afrikaans is spoken by more people than English. Only beaten by Zulu and Xhosa. You my friend can just admit your issue here as well. It's not about the language is it?

In the Western Cape, that would mean that the majority(Afrikaans coloureds) would get disadvantaged by a minority (English black).

Private institutions can pop up, they just can't be called a university...

So bloody what? It doesn't change the fact that it makes no sense for any university to tutor in Afrikaans in this a day and age, or any other language for that matter, but English. Stop being so sensitive and butthurt. Afrikaans will continue to strive in SA and it will be accorded its proper place. The notion that this is an attack on Afrikaans betrays you extreme amounts of butthurt and victim mentality.

Afrikaans is spoken, not only by white people but by a large number of blacks as a first language. What do you mean this is racial?
