Get a PS5.

There are some fantastic games that you can play from the PS4 era, not to mention new ones being released.

PS5 + PC with Game Pass sub will have you covered completely

Did they? Hmm should take a look as I have AC3 and AC revelations still. But then again not sure I would want to play 3 again :-).
 
I've only recently noticed that my PS4 support's Keyboard and mouse gameplay , Tried Warzone on my 144p screen and is was much better than my ageing PC - With the prices of PC upgrades these days a PS5 seems to be an attractive choice ,only issue is you require HDMI 2.1 display to get 144+ Fps.

Your PC will easily last you until the end of the year, probably another year and maybe another one after that so I wouldn't worry about upgrading in a hurry.

Personally I'm not a fan of console gaming but my SO bought a Xbox and with the gamepass it makes much better than any other console I have owned because there is always something to play, this was exclusive for PC in the past and its a happy medium.

I went and did an upgrade on my everything but the GPU (I have the 1080ti) and i'm still easily playing everything in ultra and have been for the last 4-5 years. The speed increase from my old PC to my new PC isn't that noticeable. When the bitcoin boom dies I will probably upgrade my GPU but I might skip the whole 30 series.

Physical media means nothing if you need outdated systems to use them.

And I know this is where Emulators start graying the line esp when you need ROM's and such. <- devs that recognize this would totally support free upgrades to prevent people from sailing the high seas.

What you think you own the games you bought on steam? Sadly you don't, only games you own are the physical copies and I have managed to get a few good titles for cheap on the Xbox One.

Don't forget physical copies mean nothing when the new hardware doesn't support the old games either.

I do however have to admit on using Steam. If Steam ever goes out of business or its the end of the world, I'm screwed.
I don't have to keep paying to keep playing the games currently as part of a "subscription"
 
I have both gaming pc and ps5.

I will give the ps5 this, its bloody fast to start games and ready to play whenever. Where the pc you have wait to boot and start up Bnet etc . I have 3000Mbs nvme in my pc btw.

Ps5 never gives Bsod, just works :P

But I still prefer pc, as I am not good with the controller in fps games lol

The 3060 is currently inflated due to the low supply and high demand from crypto miners. In 3 to 6 months time when supplies increase the price is going to drop to around R7,000 .

If you don't mind over paying by up to R7,000 then by all means go ahead.

Should see the Series X, then through in Quick Resume, yesterday my UPS didn't kick in time so the Xbox and the TV went off, got it all hooked up to the inverter and turned it all back on was in my game where I left off. Not a sweat, then decided hey let me play another game, was in that game where I left off as well. Only game that gives a few hiccups is Diablo 3.
 
I also have an i5-7600 and it's doing ok for most games but does get heavily utilised. This is paired with a GTX 1060 6GB, but honestly, the drivers from NVIDIA recently have been an absolute dog show, and I experience numerous crashes from time-to-time in my games, even after a fresh windows install.

For a true upgrade, you'd want a new CPU as well, and to get that you're also going to need a new MOBO, then you slap on your overpriced NVIDIA GPU with the somewhat dodgy drivers = it was just too much of a ball ache for me to consider going through. I will try to squeeze as much juice as I can out of my PC for the time being.

I went ahead and bought an XBOX Series X (I usually prefer Playstation but there aren't any around!) - got myself gamepass ultimate and honestly I've been super happy with this solution. Discovered loads of cool games that are more Indie than AAA and definitely dont need a Series X to run out, but they are all still super fun. Will move the majority of my gaming to XBOX, especially considering most of the games I was playing on PC are available on XBOX anyway.

Assassins Creed Odyssey also doesn't like it. If I load a game its OK, but if I continue with quick resume the game crashes some time into play (From 5-30 mins later)

Oddly If I quick resume, then load a save game which is still way faster than same game on PC, its fine and run with no hiccups. <-- don't know what that is about?

Sorry OP for going of topic. But I recon its universal. Get console, upgrade PC later. Which console is totally up to you :p
