Hello all.

So Ive got a 5th gen i5 intel, intel DP55KG board, 250 SSD with a decent Nvidia card and 16gb RAM DDR3 (4gb x4).
I want to upgrade this system a little bit don't have the Dosh to do a full upgrade at the moment.

Basically, I am looking for a new MoBo and CPU (and obviously "better" than my 5th gen i5).
Not AMD if possible please.
MoBo must be DDR3 for my old RAM.
I will use my old GFX, PSU, SSD and RAM.

I play games on this unit and mostly work admin stuff.

Can you guys please help me find something.

I know its The Corona season, afterwards huh.

Thank you in advance <3

Does not compute, DP55KG is an LGA1156 socket MB which means you've got a 1st/2nd gen Nehalem or Westmere CPU.

Whatever you upgrade to today will require DDR4 RAM, Intel or AMD. You can sell your MB/CPU/RAM on Carbonite, Gumtree etc to offset some of the upgrade cost.

Intel is not competitive price/performance wise, their only CPU that still makes any sense is the i9-9900 for extreme gaming rigs.

The best bang for you buck CPU on the market right now is the Ryzen 5 1600AF, 6 cores & 12 threads.

R2399 - AMD YD1600BBAFBOX Ryzen 5 1600 (AF) Hexa Core 3.2GHz (3.6GHz Boost) Socket AM4 Desktop CPU
R1399- ASRock B450M-HDV AMD B450 Ryzen Socket AM4 Micro-ATX Desktop Motherboard
R1599 - G.Skill F4-3200C16D-16GVKB Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200MHz CL16 1.35V Black Desktop Memory

Keep in mind that MB only has 2x RAM slots.

I suggest you order now unless you are willing to wait until after lockdown, keep in mind the Rand is wekening and prices will go up. Distributors are closed and they are only selling stock on hand which will run out, prices have already increased as well.
