I have a 384 line but today checked my router and it is syncing at 640 down and 511 up...

Yet, when I try and download something or do a speed test, the download speed still appears to be at 384 (i.e. getting 39KB/s download).
The upload speed definitely seems to have improved - getting over 20KB/s.

This was using Mweb Uncapped (yes it's limited to 384) and Webafrica Prepaid (not limited that I know of).

Is there anything that can be done to make the download speed use fully what the line is syncing at? :-)

640 you probably on 4mb from telkom, but sync at lowest speed 4mb can do.

please post your line stats your probably , very very far from the dslam :P

or you just have very old router :P

Here are the stats from the router:

Downstream Upstream

SNR Margin: 9.5 21.9 db
Line Attenuation: 10.0 6.0 db
Data Rate: 640 511 kbps

It's a Billion 5200 ADSL2+ router.

9.5 is pretty low, try to get that higher with another router.

or changing filters , and plugging the adsl direct in, see if changes that snr.

your attenuation is very low, which is weird why you get that sync speed.

think might be telkom problem somewhere
