I need a UPS for two HP Microservers - our power has been tripping a lot lately, and I'd like to put these on a UPS to prevent damage.

How many hard drives and what other graphics cards have you installed in them?

No graphics or screens - ones a N40L and the other N36L.

Harddrives bays all are full, so four drives x2. (8 :p)

I just need something that could keep them going for 30min - and preferably shut them both down if required... not sure if thats possible.

I can already hear the one harddrive is taking strain....

Something that is probably relevant, I'd like to replace both servers with a proper RAID setup with about 10-16 drives... one day when drive price is down :D

Damn, I swear that was another pig just flew past the window :p

Esquire warned everyone on the forum - I thought they were pressing for sales, I didn't really expect the price to double :p

Have a single Microserver (5xHDD, no monitor) running on an APC Back-UPS CS 350 VA and this is working well at keeping it going during power fluctuations and shutting it down when the UPS is getting low after a power failure. It is not lasting a full half hour, probably less than half of this.

The 350 VA one may not be enough for two Microservers and you might have to go up to 650 VA - checks specs carefully.

These UPSs are sold both with and without the port and software for shutting down your computer. Something to look at when you buy.

If you are going to switch to RAID it may be for the best that you sort out the UPS first.

Purchase an Online UPS (or Pure Sine Wave) not the Line interactive ones as these will give you constant current as you running of the UPS and batteries and not off the mains , the Line Interactive only “kicks in” once the power trips , these are a bit more expensive but in the long run pays for itself as it will protect your equipment and your data , We have the Apollo 100VA Online UPS at a great price of R 1699.00 excl vat and in stock

Yeh - I'd like to buy a UPS that will eventually just power what ever RAID setup I go for. It'll probably be a PC based setup, I already have a motherboard which can take 10x SATA drives... not to worried about wrote RAID performance as its purely for redundancy and reading TV/movies/music.

Which price list can I refer too? I was scouraging through your pricelists, but couldn't find UPS's.?

It on the pricelist under the Accessories and Software tab my marketing just told me he just realised that the picture on the main menu was taken out this week

Great - thank you, I see the damn power is tripping everday at roughly the same time, really odd.

In conjunction with a timed device? pool pump etc.?
Just ESCOM in my case. once or twice a day for few minutes is a norm. Larger blackouts lasting for few hours during storms or every week whichever comes first.

Everything on timer is already on by the time it trips, the pool has been running for about an hour, and the garden irrigation for about 40min.

Strangely enough, I'm starting to suspect it might have something to do with the garden irrigation switching valves, because looking at the times, it always seems to happen almost exactly at 40min, when the irrigation goes from Zone 2 to 3.

BUT, the water comes on at 2pm again, and nothing trips...

And the pool comes on again at 6pm and again, nothing trips.

Its always only in the morning, I'm going to try and change the pool run times this evening, and see if it makes a diffference. It also only started in the past three weeks.
