During power outages my home is hooked up to a small 6.5Kva generator. Which UPS system, available in South Africa, is best for running off a home generator? My current UPS keeps switching to backup mode due to the generators power fluctuations. Budget is an issue!

How much load is on the generator, does it have avr?
I found if I had less than 1kw draw from my generator, my Meissner ups had a fanny wobble as the rpm fluctuated a bit
New mecer ups seemed a lot less sensitive.

Generators are BAD! you need exatly 3000 RPM to power AC appliances. On the mines you need 6 times the stabalizing capacity to run equipment without brownouts due too startup. Inverters are better.

You have a much smoother trasistion if the Generator fed into the DC side of an inverter. Constant load with Batteries supplying some of the instantanious current current draw peaks.

Just going to cost more.
