Urbanol

Feels like we should be singing along to The Cranberries.

But more seriously, in my head, in my head, zombi-

No but for real life seriously, I've been prescribed tons of bull over the years and only one doctor ever got it right, he was a GP but he was known as the Dr House of Port Elizabeth. He was an addict and alcoholic but this made him honest and he actually focused on the problem rather than tiptoe around and prescribe something because the "checklist" says so.

Think I'll cut down my dose to 15mg a day and take it all at night. 20mg Urba for breakfast and lunch and all I hear is BRAAAAINNNSSSSS.

Why doesn't he just reduce the number of pills you take?
He just increased it. I'm a chef and have been battling with debilitating migraines the past few weeks. Insomnia causing migraine, migraine causing insomnia, and repeat. So instead of my one tablet at night, he says I should take one three times a day. I asked about the zombie mode and he tells me it wont last more than a week.

Cool. Yeah I'll just take a week off work, no problem. AS IF. But my greater concern is if I have to be on 30mg benzo + 75mg trep every day for 6 months, I'm gonna end up back in rehab to come off the benzo, and i dont have 3 months to waste like that.

Think the moral of the story here is, find a new doctor.

Agree, this one hasn't taken you addiction history into account. Congrats on being clean.

My husband was given a Dopaquel prescription after going to rehab for alcoholism, followed by Urbanol a month later. To me it kind of defeated the purpose because it's just replacing one addictive substance with another. Ironically, in rehab he met another patient who was there for a benzo addiction after previously being admitted for alcohol rehabilitation. Both shared the same psychiatrist.

A few months back, after being on Urbanol for a couple months he started having suicidal thoughts and that was the end of Dopaquel and Urbanol.

Now he's taking Ashwagandha upon my suggestion after I tried it on myself and a few willing guinea pigs, with positive results
He's still depressed but feels much calmer.

Psychiatrists have a check list, based on how you answer, you get prescribed x or y. They really do not solve anything except their next holiday down-payment.

It's truly pathetic how easily they prescribe these meds which had serious side effects.

Sure they have their place during a stressful period but beyond that should never be prescribed chronically

I have been on benzos, ssris etc and they stunt certain emotions but at the risk of side effects and knock on effects even the psychiatrists don't understand

With that being said, I still havent found a cure to my lack of motivation, drive and general apathy.

I pop a stimulant with coffee.. Go about my day in a manic state, come home, lay in bed till the next day. Something has to chance

I can't remember what it feels like to be happy again. Every day is zombie mode

This leads me to believe that something is fundamentally wrong with society and therefore, US.

It manifests in various mental disorders and issues

Don't even suggest weed to me cos all it does is make me see things for what they really are. How we pretend, the fakeness in interactions

I typed alot

I think this oversimplification Ams generalization on your part.

Not everyone can get better with every medication or surgery and this is why people die or suffer chronic disease. Hospitals will be quiet and the funeral homes will close down otherwise.

In any case psych illness is a genetically predisposed disease that’s triggered by environmental stressors that ultimately result in a chemical imbalance that needs the correct chemicals to get the balance right.
Narcotics will mask the problems.

Sometimes you need a second or third opinion.

P.s I’m not a shrink btw

Venlafaxine (Venlor XR) changed my life. I was an anxious, stressed mess. Now I feel like a new person. Urbanol made me feel very chilled and mellow, but also a bit numb - that is it's short term purpose to get your through a difficult time. It's not for long term. Try an SNRI (serotonin and neuroepinefrine) combined inhibitor - it treats the "happiness" neurotransmitter as well as the "fight or flight feeling scared to death" neuro transmitter.

Also go to a pshycologist and talk about your problems.

It's about finding the meds that match your body chemistry.

Anxiety and Panic attacks are a brain disease, like any other disease. It's not your fault. Don't feel guilty like you should just "snap out of it". People without anxiety cannot understand why you can't just "think positive" and not worry. It's a neuro-chemical problem. So treat it like you would high blood pressure or cholesterol.
How the heck did you cope with the side effects? It was crazy! So much so that I had to stop! Is it worth pushing on? I was prescribed 75mg but the desire to lay down, yawning leading to extreme nausea, no libido or apetite at all and spaced out feeling was too much for me to handle

I need to know that there will be benefits that outweigh the side effects

My wife has access to urbanol but we were heavily warned about addiction etc from the doc. She started on a regular schedule to lessan a panic attack disorder she had developed while driving at high speed on a freeway.

The medication was only a small part of a larger treatment plan with a proper psychologist to assist in overcoming the issue and the frequency of the dose was reduced as she progresses. Currently she only takes it near the onset of an attack and has been warned she should keep a bottle of water with her and a tablet in her bag to use if neccesary when driving.

The dose is enough to calm her but she also doesn't seem to have an addictive personality. Both the doctor and I monitor the pills as well but it's a side concern of her treatment as a whole.

I have been taking Urbanol for about 10 years now, a doctor gave it to me when I had a very severe panic attack and it is the only thing that seems to work for me, no side effects at all. I have suffered with anxiety for roughly 25 years of my life now. It used to be a lot worse when I was younger and never understood what was going on with me. The thing is I never ever took it more than once in a day or more than two days in a row. I only use it when flying or when I have a very severe attack. Every other day I just deal with the weirdness that is anxiety. I have recently come across Dr. Joe Dispenza who has some interesting stuff around the power of the mind.

I have been to many therapists and tried a wide range of anti depressants none that ever worked for me long term. So I just gave it all up, somehow exercise and as good a diet as possible seem to help especially bananas for some reason, also journaling every now and then and meditating with good breath work somehow helps.
