Yesterday, ICE directed to have 1.1 million international students studying in the US to be ineligible to abode in the US. Since many universities have moved to online teaching due to COVID, the Trump administration decided this was the perfect time to deport these students. Yeah an ex-classmate of mine got into Harvard Business School for a PhD this year (a rare and spectacular achievement for a South African). He will not be allowed in until this issue is resolved although they had already said online classes until December. Even without this executive order the US embassies have been closed I gather.

Not much. Unlikely Biden will pick from the progressive wing. The top three choices are Kamala Harris (establishment Dem), Susan Rice (US ambassador to UN and National Security Advisor in the Obama administration but unlikely to be chosen as no political or campaign experience IMO and was highly visible in the Bhengazi fiasco) and Tammy Duckworth (possibly too junior to be a VP but an Iraq War veteran which gets lots of plus points in American politics).

Open in SA to make appointments for B visas only.
But, will not be allowed to enter the US unless for business.

I am hoping that come November the whole xenophobic mood will lighten ..... who knows?

Tulsa County reported 261 confirmed new cases on Monday, a one-day record high, and another 206 cases on Tuesday. By comparison, during the week before the June 20 Trump rally, there were 76 cases on Monday and 96 on Tuesday.

Although the health department’s policy is to not publicly identify individual settings where people may have contracted the virus, Dart said those large gatherings “more than likely” contributed to the spike.

BLM protestors mostly wore masks (sardonic take: wouldn't you if you were "rioting" and "looting"?).
The few thousand mouth-breathers at the Trump rally were in an enclosed space, without masks - to own the Libs, I guess.

Not one new case from that ? but a Trump rally caused a spike ?
