They were not trained in science.

Many blood letters were basically just barbers. The famous red and white stripped poles outside a barber shop was the symbol for blood letting.

It was driven by the belief that purging of blood was a good thing because of observations from menstruation cycles of women.

Only when scientific medicine became an actual thing in the 1600's did blood letting get pushed away in near completeness.

People who were trained saw it for the psudeo science that it was and ended it.

Doctors today are trained on scientific principles, through the scientific method.

The comparison is null and void.
"Dr Gorrie's refrigerator to cure yellow fever due to the bad warm night ai"r. While he was not correct and was a doctor, the refrigerator is still widely used for medical applications as well.

Well, there we go - Biden supports abortion after birth. What a monster.
I laffed so very much, thanks for this gem.

I can't wait until Biden wins and righteous mothers everywhere who are supporting their deadbeat, stay-at-home, adult Millennial and Gen Z adult children can finally have an abortion performed on their 30+ year old children. Take that snowflakes!!1!

I'm aware of the history of barbers, but it didn't stop in 1600. The wild west they performed amputations when there is no doctor in town (I believe they were referred to as saw-blades?) . They also pulled teeth with a little shot of alcohol before hand.

To say that no formal institution existed and therefore no training was done is not correct. The scientific method exist as far back as ancient Egypt

" An Egyptian medical textbook, the Edwin Smith papyrus, (c. 1600 BCE), applies the following components: examination, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis, to the treatment of disease,[2] which display strong parallels to the basic empirical method of science "

The only thing universities did was centralize learning which made it more efficient.

So back to the original point. As science evolves so does the treatment. What is now considered true, might not be the case in future.

Biden has a 16-point lead according to today's CNN poll:

CNN Poll: Biden expands lead over Trump after contentious debate and President's Covid diagnosis

Joe Biden's advantage over President Donald Trump has expanded and the former vice president now holds his widest lead of the cycle with less than a month remaining before Election Day, according to a new nationwide CNN Poll conducted by SSRS.

Among likely voters, 57% say they back Biden and 41% Trump in the poll that was conducted entirely after the first debate and mostly after the President's coronavirus infection was made public.

November is going to be brutal.

Wouldn't say it's a laughing matter.
Though rare, they are referring to the Bill in Virginia where they would let the baby die if the mother so chooses in cases of severe deformity or the like. So not technically abortion

Trump himself is the laughing stock, not the underlying issue. I too laughed, but at Trump. He consistently makes a mockery of anything he touches.

You are wrong sir.

The principle is that you cannot refuse a service that you regularly provide based on BS reasons. That is a very different concept to a state representative physically forcing somebody to do something.

If you are not capable of providing the service without being a p**s then you don't get to provide it to anyone.
The problem with that is that it depends on what you count as a B.S reason. And the cake baker's instance was the state wanting to force a baker to make a cake they didn't want to.
With your line of reasoning, having a different political opinion is also a B.S reason, therefore the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Patreon are obliged to accommodate people who disagree with the politics of the owners of the platform.

This rather frail definition of "B.S reason" is why I don't think it is a valid concept. This is why you simply use the concept of private property to do the heavy lifting.

If you don't want to provide a service to someone who is willing to pay for it, that is your problem. You don't need the state to enforce it. Just like the state cannot force a bigoted person to do their shopping at a certain place.

And why this works, is because bigotry is something that is pretty much exclusively stupid people. Hence the people who do it are not going to be successful, and if they are, the general intolerance to actual racism that is in society is enough to cause a boycott.

For example:
A Cafe in Australia decided that they would charge men 18% more for the crime of being a man.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-48056938
Shock and horror, they closed without any state actor having to take action against them.

Crickets from the local Biden Boys here on MyBB as well. Wonder if they will comment on their corrupt comrade who takes a bribe. Doubt it.
If this is true, it must be condemned. To ascertain if this is true it must be investigated.

Happy now?

Wait til trumps tax returns are out and we see all the bribes from ukraine and russia... oh wait... :giggle:
Real fun part is that all the "controversy" about Trump's taxes are pretty much a nothingburger spread by people who know nothing about accounting or law.

You want a good breakdown of them, watch this video. (I am waiting from the inevitable screeching)

So that would mean Barr's DoJ is allowed to look into these allegations without that itself precipitating nonsense about Trump trying to abuse the justice system in order to target his political opposition, yes?
