Used Audi A3 vs. new Mazda3

Whatever you decide, just make sure you have a mechanic that will look after either once their plans expire.
 
I am not impressed with the A3's interior, VERY plasticy. At that price I would rather consider a slightly more used A5 (since Op seems to like Audi a lot). Otherwise I am with team Mazda on this one, A3 looks good on the outside if configured decently but doesn't offer good value for money compared to the Mazda.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with the Mazda's exterior and interior. I just thought that maybe Audi might offer something more, since they're more a 'luxury' brand.

I think I'm definitely leaning more towards the Mazda.

Maybe find out from the dealer when/if the Mazda 3 is getting a facelift in the near future; I think it has one due soon because it came out in 2019; I can't find info or spy shots about a facelift on the net, except some slight spec updates that were added in other markets.

I asked, they said we'll be getting the CX-60 but no word about a facelift for the 3.

It's getting an update by the end of the year according to cars.co.za, but typically Mazda leaves the top model untouched and adds some stuff to the lower spec derivatives.

Personally I'd go for the Mazda 3. More reliable, cheaper to run, good torque converter gearbox so you don't deal with the niggles of DCT/DSG boxes, probably cheaper to insure too since the skelms love the Germans.

Only downsides are that it will be a little slow if you're at high altitude instead of at the coast and you will probably struggle to find stock of the 2.0 Astina.

And I believe the OCW code in her invoice is from the notorious DQ200 7 speed dry clutch.

Yep but sometimes new stuff too.

It's a tough choice to wait but you might end up with a better spec'ed Mazda 3 by the end of the year (but probably for R20k more than now though).

I wonder where cars.co.za got the info. I also can't find any other info about it.
 
Friend of mine had the 2.0l CX-3 Dynamic Auto. What a fantastic little car. The 2.0l SkyActiv engines are brilliant. Sub 10s 0-100 and real world fuel economy of 7.5l/100km or 13.5km/l.

Not really a Mazda fan, but I actually liked it.
