They won't tell you.

Last year I had inside info from a salesman about a Mazda price increase, I emailed Mazda one day before the price increase and they told me they could not confirm anything.

The price increase took place the next day just like the salesman told me, lol.

So basically my choices are:

1. Wait a year for a possible facelift that may or may not happen
2. Buy now and hope they don't facelift it this year

Only problem is if I wait a year for the facelift and it doesn't happen, then it's probably going to happen in 2024, and I still shouldn't buy!

This happened to my neighbour, He bought a brand new 1st Gen CX5 and then a month later the facelift was out. Gotta admit he looked like a chop lol.

Yeah Mazda is also not good with marketing so you will never know what happens. Most people dont even know the CX 30 exists because mazda doesn't communicate anything to the public. With Audi you will know a year in advance before they facelift.

So option 3: Don't buy a Mazda for FOMO and find a car that's just been released!

Was around R50,000 for an extra 2 years/20,000km on my Audi A5 many, many years back!

And incidentally, the most unreliable car I've had :/

Jeez, my 2006 model A3 2.0 gets those numbers easily... not really something to brag about in 2023.

Depends on the model but it was a bit less than that for my A7 which is a 7 year old car.


@OP, take both for a test drive and see which one you like the most.

Ouch! Petrol or 3.0 TDI? I see it has quattro, so that would mean it has one of the S-Tronic transmissions.

Was a 2.0 Quattro 155kw version .

The issue wasn't the S Tronic - but rather the pistons kept cracking.

I lost the 1st piston at 40,000km and the 2nd at 46,000km. It felt like the 3rd was going shortly thereafter as well - so I got rid of the car.

Audi covered the pistons, but they refused to change all of them at the same time. So it meant a random break down / tow in and inconvenience.
 
Audi Multitronic - walk away dont even look bad
S tronic - same has the DSG service every 60 000km change the fliud and the little filter that sits inside the box and you good to go - have a DSG for 10 years never skipped a beat.

Back to the OP

Mazda vs Audi - look at how long you want to keep the car and the service cost out of pocket. A3 is okayyyyy but if you said A5 or higher vs Mazda my money would then be Audi and diesel.

Just remember some Audis are much more expensive to maintain but they are worth it
