utTraceStar: analyse your iBurst connection

I still get the ERR704 message. The iBurst dashboard reports the modem, thus the USB connection is established.

Please advise

Thankz

had to change the ip address setting for usb now it works a charm love it thanks guys.

Seburn,

Did you receive my debug? Any luck so far in pin pointing my problem...

Thankz

Since I loaded the new version it now asks me to either set-up the IP manually or with the wizard.

When I try the wizard it stipulates that the IP is set up and to click start which I duly do (after waiting a bit as Seburn stipulated earlier in this thread). It then goes through the whole process again.

I have connected via ethernet and manually set up the IP and subnet and it still does it.

Any idea WTF I am doing wrong?

Thank you for that post I donno why this has changed but at least now I know the problem exists. Please let me know the last working version.

Please copy this into a text file and save as .reg then double click.
It increases the start delay (wait time for the connection) which might help
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\iConnectCsharp]
"Start Delay"=dword:00000010

Hi,

I sent you a new debug. and tried the regfix above. Still no luck....

Thankz for all the trouble.

Seburn,

Firstly I really appreciate all your trouble with my problem. now for the results....

I'm still getting ERR704.

Things I have done:
Tried uttracestar on ethernet - Same problem
Setting IP manually on both USB and ethernet - Same problem
Ping modem on 192.168.250.10 - get good replies from it
try to telnet to 192.168.250.10 - Wont connect on either ethernet or usb
Only firewall i'm running on this machine is Windows XP SP2 built-in firewall. I have disabled it and tried the above aswell but to no avail. Cant connect to it.

Any suggestion in this regard, because I believe if we get this sorted everything will work.

I dont know if it has any relevance but I'm using a new model IBurst modem (The Black one)

Thankz in advance

That would be very useful..

If you do find/know of a way please tell us Seburn.

Well then again, your router can basically do this for you. Assuming the only real function of rebooting is to disconnect and reconnect.

Yes there was a way but I neva tested it .. Feeling brave should I go dig up my archives?

Please if you could dig up those archives?

Hi Seburn

Would this *.bat script to initiate a reboot of the iBurst UTD work?

Provided of course that I have connected the UTD via Ethernet cable and I have added an additional IP of 192.168.250.5, subnet 255.255.255.0 under the "Advanced Tab" under TCP/IP properties, therefore still allowing the UTD to set the IP for PPPoE?

However, what I am really after is a way to renew the IP. When using a router I can do this with a Java script via the web interface, but when connected directly to the pc, it’s an issue.

#
cd\

telnet 192.168.250.10 1234

$usercommand = "reboot"

The Utd doesn't set an ip for pppOE on your local area connection. I found adding the additional ip doesn't always work correctly either.

The command is reboot or boot from my records.
However you cannot pass the command to telnet using a batch file.
Telnet doesn't support scripting so you cannot pass a script file to it.

You would have to get a telnet program that allows you to pass a script file through like http://www.sdisw.com

Alternatively if you think its a good addition to the app and you tested the cmd and it works fine I can add the reboot button to utTraceStar.

I'd prefer not to reboot just change the IP

In Cape Town we have dead IP ranges 64-66 (xxx.xxx.64.xxx) and to reset the modem is a pain. Is there not a way to have the UTD request a new IP, with minimal fuss?

When using a router it is no problem, one click but without - one is forced to reboot the modem and wait till it starts-up again?

What exactly does your router do? Close the pppOE and reconnect?
I doubt it telnets in and sends the reboot command.

If you disconnect and reconnect the iburst pppOE connection do you not get a new ip?

The pppOE (dial up) is set to retrieve ip setting automatically by defualt. However I doubt you can set these manually, as the server address cannot be set and if you set your client address you are likely to conflict with someone else.

Router sends this command...

If I look at the web interface, it sends this command to the router:

<input type="submit" name="Disconnect" value="Disconnect" onClick="return disableDisConButton()">

Surely there must be a way to send a similar command to the UTD via a web interface without the router being connected or have I smoked too much?

You are smoking that orange bubbly stuff again (from the ads) I told ya to quit!

That will in all likelyhood disable the the disconnect button you just click and disconnect the pppOE connection. (Same as disconnecting in windows)

Ok so power down / power up is the only solution.

Ok so, I'll have to telnet into the router and get it to reboot. I so hoped there would be a simpler way...

unplug router and plug back in again? EDIT sorry didn't read the topic line
