Hi.

My line just upgraded yesterday from 20mbps adsl2+ to 40 mbps vdsl
My line stats are fantastic and syncing at 40 down and 3 up
But i can't connect with any of the isps even the telkom guest account!!
I'm using billion 8800nxl.
I called telkom many times but no one seems to have an idea! And just logged a fault

Any one knows what could the problem?
I'm without internet since yesterday:(

On your routers WAN configuration, make sure that your "Layer2 Interface" is set to PTM and NOT ATM. Also make sure that 802.1P Priority is set to 0 and 802.1Q VLAN ID is 835

Thank you soo much for your help, just connected again.. I can't believe that's it
Now how to cancel the fault reported?

Glad you came right. I believe the Telkom sourced routers come preconfigured with these settings so it is not common knowledge that you need them for a non Telkom router.

Not sure how you cancel a fault, please let us know how you do that when you get it right.

What's tha maximum wifi speed for the 8800nxl.
I reach 39mbps on wired connection but around 25mbps on wifi just 1 meter away.
I tried all the channels and same results. Tested with a laptop abd iphone 6plus.

Anyone achieved a higher wifi speeds with this router?

Cant help you with advise on the 8800nxl. But try all the modes. Is your SSID hidden?

You can try changing the wireless channel. Sometimes a channel can over used by your neighbours wifi and bandwidth can be limited. Adjust by more than 2 channels as there can be some interference from the adjacent channels. e.g. if you are using channel 1 try change to channel 5

Hey Gambit, thanks for the setup info.

It saved my bacon setting up my new Billion 8800 NXL I bought to replace my original Pace. Could hardly ever get into the Pace web interface so had no way of checking the settings it was using.

Cheers,
Brett

I'm currently in Aus. They still run ADSL2+. We should consider us lucky to have VDSL. But on the other end you can get 400meg fibre for 450$ uncapped
