I stipulated to Outsurance where the car is for valuation (CK COACHWORKS) and assumed they will use their valuation as a reference and validate.
So If i recall, outsurance suggested what coachworks to use, which was "Barloworld Coachworks"... I checked with a few places, i also named below etc.... memory is a bit sketchy, this is 6 years ago... but here you go:
...............................................................................................
I do not accept the payout suggested, that i was sent yesterday.
i was just informed by CK COACHWORKS that the value you gave, is NOT based on their valuation, but your own. Comparing it to two other external quotes, I am being severely under-paid.
What would the steps be in re-evaluation, and what time frame?
My wife is an an attorney at *******, I am going to give her all documentation this evening to take this matter further if need be, as there is such a high level of ambiguity in that document its ridiculous.
1) CK coachworks did the "evaluation", yet they give no monitary guidance?
2) Outsurance does their own evaluation based on ridiculously low labour rates (that I only know of because I had to investigate it, I am not a panel beater).
3) Lastly, Outsurance references BARLOWORLD repairs in cape town, who just told me that Outsurance is notorious for incorrectly valuating claims.
I also attached 2 external quotes.
Please note I was completely misinformed, and the evaluation supplied by your company implies that repair costs are covered, and it clearly is not.
Kind regards ..

So after a few follow ups, more days and days. they finally said I should get a quote from Barloworld, that I sent on, and was eventually paid for.
the difference between the repair was R5000. They offered R11000 and the repair was R16000.
Good Luck!
