Ver 5.0.1.60/A1

lol @ doomy, I feel for whichever company is mixing quality xeons with mysleepiness
Sorry doomy, my bad, still recovering from a long night,
the line should have read:
I'm assuming since you on usb now , when you flip back over (to ethernet), it will all be better. alternatively, reflash the modem with the firmware again, and try again.

it seems ou misunderstood the post, after reset, once needs to connect succesfully with user/pass using usb cable, this then gets stored in the modem to be used for ethernet/pppoe (at least thats what I experienced, and proasm once mentioned the user/pass(es) being stored in the modem.
firmware @ http://www.unrealza.co.za/files/other/IPWP1CF4.2.1.8.exe

I just upgraded to new firmware, and the bootloader info tells me ||||||||||||||||||||
/me bewildered
if only it still said 4.2.1.8, it would make me feel a little comforted, but this is just weird. In regards to that CD they sending users, is it possible they have a new release of the modem dialler software, ie hyperthread friendly?

Pings back down to sub 150ms. But bandwidth perfectly capped at 4KB/s they must be playing around with the bandwidth management software. This is on version 5 .60 of firmware with bootloader at .40y.

=====
.60 works just fine with pppoe ...

Standard USB-->pppoe rules apply ...

1) Plug unit into USB on windows pc
2) Upgrade to .60
3) Test connection on windows pc
4) Reset modem (stay on windows with usb)
5) Test connection
6) Plug in ethernet
7) Press and hold power unit the modem does a sort of "double reset"
8) linux pppoe goes straight in ;-)

One caveat - I was running v5 .40y before so my bootloader is newer --> this may impact things ..

As to the downgrade - open C:\Program Files\IPWireless Inc\IPWireless PC Software\Upgrade and remove the .60 firmware ... use the 4.2.1.8 available from ProASM or Sentechs upgrade site.

======

As I mentioned in a post above the .60 firmware does not do a bootloader update - only a firmware update.
If you upgrade to .40y and then to .60 you will have .40y bootloader with .60 firmware.

To get the "official" versions from Sentech you can fetch them from their own update server.

ProAsm, as it today was the supposed deadline for any fixes/upgrades, and I do understand the call centre techy when he says they'll be testing till tomorrow, I have yet to see an improvement in speed since they "fixed" the 256k lot. I'm on 512k, always had good speeds, and if there was times of slowness, never fell below 20kb/s and only was slow for about a day or two.

This is getting riduculous (spelling) now and I'm seriously pissed off at how Sentech treats us as customers. Is there ANY way possible you could email me what they're changing/changed as this would help settle my mind a bit to actually wait before cancelling this gawd awful contract and rather go for something like ADSL.

Thanks

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

I understand, but marketing (or anyone else at sentech), I feel, don't know their @ss from their mouth... Im cancelling my debit order until I see an improvement on speed...
