Hey Robone,
I couldn't reply yesterday 'cos I couldn't browse anymore. (maybe my packetloss reached 100%?)

Definitely they have fscked up the tower. Last week I had 'reasonable' speed with less than 5% packetloss. On Saturday my speed dropped, and packet loss went up to about 10%. On Sunday (after the router change) and Monday speeds were SH*T, packet loss at 20-30%. And Tuesday the trend continued...50% loss. Wednesday "update of firmware" = 80% packetloss.

Short of being completely disconnected....how much worse could this get?

I was getting about 50% packet loss last night, and the speed was so bad that I eventually shut down my PC in disgust [xx(] and watched TV instead. Speed and packet loss seems a bit better this morning tho' but still not great.

I'm on tower 126 [Fourways]. Does anyone know if the firmware has been updated on this tower?

* Update *
No NodeB's were upgraded this morning (Thursday).
This has apparently been postponed. Reason Unknown!

I saw an interesting thing on the dl graph from last night. At exactly 6:30am this morning my dl limit hit almost 3kB/s. It was up and down as usual through the night and managed to dl around 30MB since 7pm last night with the usual spiky speed reaching anything from 0 - 10kB/s, but since 6:30am the spikes hit 3kB/s then flattens for a few seconds, drops to 0 for a while then spike to 3kB/s with a flat top. Looks like a block somewhere to me.

Will check again little later.

Yesterday late afternoon and early this morning I also had real c@%$py speed. Phoned and moaned. About an hour later I lost all signal for ± 5 minutes. Once signal came back, usable speeds returned (not great, but OK). I guess the tower needed a reboot.

Interesting, I also saw a 3kB "flat" maximum d/l rate last night, on eMule, but not on Gnutella2 (Shareaza). Both use different protocols, the latter uses http these days ... hmm ... *edit* ... right now, I can't seem to get any p2p to work at all ... won't even connect. Is this the new "bandwidth management" system? I wonder if they're planning on blocking p2p outright ... p2p is probably what Winston Smith refers to when he says "some customers aren't using MW for its 'intended purpose'", so I wouldn't put it past them, that would be right in line with the general attitude of Sentech management .. "We'll sell you a "high-speed" "broadband" connection, just don't use it to download anything significant or do anything that you would normally do on a real broadband line, 'cos that would mean we'd have to buy BW etc" ..

*edit2* .. even google is inaccessible right now, so I guess it's just all international down (again) ..

Brolloks,
On P2p last week I was getting more than 50MB in an hour. Now 10 if I'm lucky.

I'm not trying to be funny...On a 128 package we should AVERAGE more than 12KB/s.
