It’s not funny. It’s actually pretty scary. But all the white racists who voted “no” in the 1992 referendum, which asked white voters whether they’d be OK with “power sharing” with the ANC, are vindicated. Turns out there’s not enough power to share.

All the doomsayers who predicted infrastructure decay and economic collapse, all those who fled South Africa to make a home in Australia or elsewhere, now appear to have been right. They may have been right for the wrong reasons, and may have expressed it in distasteful terms, but right they were.

“There is no power crisis,” said President Thabo Mbeki in May 2006. Yeah right, dear leader. Amandla aWethu (”Power to the people!”), right? Sorry, Mr President, but a belated apology 18 months later doesn’t keep the lights on. (It’s worth noting that, judging by the Google results, this is just about the only significant apology Mbeki has ever offered for anything.)

The more the governmet keeps digging, the harder they'll fall. Hopefully all the ANC voters will be at the bottom of the pit to catch them.

Maybe the pit could be well designed, with a high Safety Factor! In that case ANC voters will have nothing to catch.

Only if its an ANC/BEE contracter who gets the job of installing it.

Hell that's a damning article... Paints a pretty bleek picture... perhaps it's time to employ some yanks to do a fast fuel job in SA...

Hell man, you have any idea how much power those things use??!!

lol.

But seriously - apartheid was wrong.

But so was the manner in which the country has been run since.
If I had a time machine, I would hop on back, and gently explain that the change over would need to be done more intelligently. A gradual shift of power may have prevented all this.
Then again, maybe not. One thing is certain, the ANC have not covered themselves in glory.

The problem is those governing have never done so before, it's from Robben Island straight to parliament, they're bound to fail and considering their credentials they've actually done pretty well... One things for certain though if we don't sort out this power problem and soon we are doomed. This nation cannot afford the losses that this article is prophesying...

Yup - the problem is knowing your limitations and skills.
I for one would NEVER assume the position of president - I would fail miserably. I have no political "brain", and no interest in it.
The ANC leaders need to be mature enough to admit that, and make way for younger people with better skills.

Had the parties concerned stuck to the road map / blueprint for the future, there would not have been such a problem - but when you start pushing people out and try and re-invent the wheel, well as they say in cricket... its always going to be a big ask - the failures are getting too much, and it is all down to bad management and planning

Not necessarily a vindication for racists but those who rightfully opposed the ANC. Being anti ANC then makes you no more a racist than being anti ANC now.
