How our "Own Your Life Rewards" program works is as follows:

You join the program for a total of R164 per month (R49 + R115 for the fitness benefit - first 3 months are free), then for everytime you visit the gym we'll refund you the following amount per visit:

Off Peak / Student / Virgin Active Red memberships: R30
Club or Premier membership: R50
Classic membership: R75

Your gym benefit is capped at your monthly gym fee.

You can expect to receive your gym benefit as long as you:
Go to the gym 6 times or more in a calendar month and 12 times or more in a 3 month rolling window.

To qualify for the fitness benefit you need to have a minimum of R750 worth of premiums with Liberty (Medical aid / hospital plan automatically qualifies).

You may claim your free movie ticket at a self help terminal.

That is correct, but the qualifying criteria is:
6 times or more in a calendar month and 12 times or more in a 3 month rolling window.

I think this option limits the time you can visit the gym to during the non-peak hours. So unless you are a housewife it may not be viable.

I got the off peak one and it is 8 am to 4 pm Mon - Friday and anytime on weekends.
 
My Financial Advisor told me I only needed R400 policy with liberty life.

So I just increased my life policy to R416 and joined .

Still need to go activate the card at the gym.
 
And the joining fee got expensive :'(

Anyway, cancelled discovery today....

Why not just pay to win with the Vitality Fitness test at the Bio? Costs more now (R250) and only a max of 7500 points up to twice a year, but hey, such are the hoops we have to jump through.

Huh? pay to win?

I don't want a complicated product that requires maintenance - and unless you buy into all their products, you don't really benefit.
 
Liberty virgin joining fee jumped from R99 in Dec 2014 to R695 in jan 2015 :(

Luckily I joined in jan & got jan for free...also got my joining fee back because liberty still pays you the R50 per visit fee irrespective anyway :)

12 month contract for R740 per month (access to all VA gyms). lf you swipe 14 x a month then liberty pays you R679 = only R61 comes out of your pocket at the end of the day. Then you pay R164 pm to liberty for their rewards program.

All in all, if you swipe 14 x a month you only art with R61 + R164 = R225pm in total

How did you come to that bit?

14 x R50 = R700 (R50 back per visit, up to the maximum of your total gym membership).
