Virgin Mobile ups data costs

Huh, what is this peak and off peak time data rates?

They are talking about data bundles. The comparison isn't fair.

You can't get 5mb from vodacom at 19c a meg. You have to buy 2gigs.

You can get 5mb from virgin at 60c a meg.

So if you're only gonna use 5mb virgin is cheaper.

I agree. The data comparisons are not fair at all. All Virgin Mobile's data is not part of a bundle at 60c/MB, whereas Vodacom charges you R2/MB for the same.

It's still way cheaper than vodacom out of bundle, yet I dont see myself switching from vodacom's HSDPA to virgin's edge network just for a couple of cents..

stupid article. Vodacom, MTN's R2/mb out of bundle data rate is daylight robbery.

Go Virgin mobile. I don't mind the increase to 60c /mb

I know, just pointing out that it's another idiot journalist who has no idea what he's talking about.

You use the term journalist loosely. With such a crappy inaccurate article, calling the otter a journalist might be insulting to thousands of excellent hard working journalists out there.

Pull the article pls. :(

From my understanding is the first 5min is peak, then the rest of the day is off peak.

If they removed off peak then I doubt anyone will wanna stay.

And the data rate went up by 10c...damn...I just brought a starter pack for 99c for the data :D

You didn't read the article or any of the posts before yours did you?

I mostly only use my phone for the free sms's on the free sms contract(which i now see is limited to about 1000 smses per month) and for the data which i dont really mind the 10c lift

use adsl on your phone, just enable bluetooth lan network on your mobile.
It cheap and 100Meter range at the cost of 6.5 cent a meg!!
Cell Phone must be wireless lan capable

Sorry, I did mean it loosely...

Okay, I really REALLY hate Virgin now!

Why is it that the service is sooo bad? Last night, I couldn't utilise my GPRS at all! And apparently MXit is free on the network .. yeah right! Anyway, where do I complain? Who do I contact? The website has no usable technical related info and I sent a report to Cell C (Via FAX mind you .. not email .. gosh!) and no reply ..

What really gets me though is that I can't move when I use GPRS .. moving to another room causes the biggest problems with dropped connections. I don't even dare trying to use GPRS in the car or when I'm walking for that matter!

WHY IS IT SO BAD??? Can anyone help me here!?!

</rant>

Okay .. The data price adjustment, even though I'm ranting, is fine by me. Still cheaper than everyone else and well, they are doing all they can to bring us low prices even though the inter-connect charges are ewww .... Pity they piggybacking on Cell C .. maybe they can supplement the network now with the new Altech ruling though.
