Like I said sorry if this offends anyone who does have the knowledge, but it has been my experience that the Vodashops don't know much of anything. If you get an answer that an antenna won't increase your signal reception it should speak volumes about their expertise. Sure there are the few exceptions to this but these are very few and wide apart and it's unlikely you will get one of these.

Then you should have said Vodashop's and not generalise and say tech's. There are several categories of techs.
On the antenna issue it could have been a sales person that gave that info. There are exceptions in all walks of life.:p

You are only as good as the experience/knowledge you have.

Sorry accepted.

I did not see it necessary to qualify it since the subject was Vodashop in Bruce's post so I didn't thought anybody would take it to mean techs in general. Kinda ironic that if I didn't include the tech comment specifically to avoid this it would likely not have been misinterpreted. :)

Sorry if this offends any of the tech out there but they aren't always the brightest lot

out there is pretty general I would say, aren't always the brightest lot ??

You still haven't answered the question on which category of tech's you are refering?

Kinda ironic ........... Then why did you start your statement by saying Sorry if this offends ....................

I thought I made it clear in my previous post that I was specifically referring to Vodashops which was also the subject Bruce was referring to. That's why I didn't qualify it further and can't see how I can be any clearer now. I said sorry in advance to any techs (yes in general) that I might offend by that and it seems like you turned out to be one of them - work in a Vodashop by any chance? :D

Now now girls no fighting please:D!!!!! I will not tolerate strife on my thread:D. FYI as far as I can understand they sent some Technical guys from Durban to our sunny south coast.

@bruce000. Yes what has happened to Friend it is almost weekend again & still no update. We are all anxious!!
Sorry Gsnoopy I can only give you info my friend gives me!! I'm just as anxious as the rest of you to find out what happened. I will keep you posted as soon as I hear anything!!:o

LOL,maybe Bruce000 is the FRIEND........

LOL It's like the guy that goes to the Doctor with an STD and tells him his fried has a problem. The Doc says:"Tell your friend to come and see me!" The patient says:" No no he's too embarrassed":D
Trust me if it was me I wouldn't have such a calm demeanor:D
The Problem is my friend has money so it doesn't really bug him as much, and he is a bigish client of Vodacom so he most probably will strike some kind of deal with them. The scary thing is it can happen to plebs like me that aren't as clued up as you guys.

The point is not the money its the why how and what. This thread has brought out a couple of interesting aligations and discussions. So you must ensure we get some feed back. If he has that much money, I will PM you my postal address and please courier the notebook to me and I will personally check it. Now that is a cool idea.
Let me know.

Your apology is accepted on behalf of the techs out there.:D
No I don't work at a Vodashop at all pity. :p :p I just don't like your attitude towards tech's in general. Software/Hardware/Systems tech's etc.

Oh by the way aren't you an owner of a Vodashop that employs the tech's. What do you expect if you pay peanuts. You are probably a tech yourself so that is why you know so much about the tech's.:p:p

I don't care so much about the why how and what but more about the why allow this to happen in the first place and what will be done to stop this from happening again. If this happens to plebs like us they (Vodacom) won't be so eager to work out a deal when they will get more from a single R10,000 payment.

@Prometheus. Truce :D

I agree how could it go that bad. To me it looks like if your online the system cannot measure or know where you are. With R6b profit they could really put together an almost perfect system.

If they made the R6b profit with the current system they might be unwilling to change it:rolleyes:

Yes SIR!!!!:D

In a post#7 a long long time ago, I suggested that one should consider using PPDBs if one was not currently tied into a contract:We all know that there are serious problems with Vodacom's Contract Data Bundles, and the only way to drive that point home, is for a large number of customers [that are not currently tied into lengthy contracts] to migrate over to using PPDBs - when Vodacom notices the migratory habbits of its customer base, it will take notice and realise that it is time to do something about the problems with and surrounding CDBs - and while they are about it, they may as well implement Data Bundle Rollover...

PS: This suggestion does not mean that consumers should revert back to being mushy-brained-zombies and ignore the dangers of malware - protect your poor PC against the MTDs of the Internet...

@ic. What is the purpose of your reference to PPDB? Is it to a specific thread, because it lists every single PPDB on myadsl. Did you not want to ref. a particular thread instead?

Whatever had control of the data connection over the 3days must have really been pumping not only to use up 5GB of data but to keep the connection alive for so long - you just stop to read something for 5minutes and your connection goes impotent on you.
