I had a customer come in this morning about being billed for high usage that he definately did not use. And when pulling a itemised billing report to see when Vodacom actually started billing him, i noticed something that raises quite a concern...

Upon inspecting the report, everything seemed fine up until a certain date when the billing started. The time of the billing was FROM 11:55pm.

The session time was 1minute. The cost of that session was R5.35.

11.57pm. Session time again 1minute. Billing for that session again R5.35.

This goes on each consecutive minute(or 2) until about 6am the next day. Each one minute session billing R5.35. Take note that the laptop is swicthed off and Data Card UNPLUGGED.

I have seen this before but just ignored it becoz i couldnt epxlain it. No i am quite concerned.

Whatever it is, its been going on for a quite some time now. I mean, how can your usage go sky high if you dont even have your modem plugged in?

Maybe this is why we haven't heard anything from VC yet?:confused:I think they are trying to figure out what is going on them selves!!!:cool:

I think he was refering to feedback on the post i made of the itemised billing report?

Ok that's just wierd... i get an email notification of ic's post and its not even here :confused:

@Bruce000.
Any news, yet. Has he done anything about paying the 10K? Has he had the notebook checked by any one else than the Voda shop.

:cool:

IMO it was a reference to the enigma contained in [post=1166588]this post by Iam3G[/post].

I refreshed this page like all day and i swear it was not here :confused: ic be playing mind tricks on people... maybe working for Vodacom to hypnotise us all and me being the first test subject :D It actually worked :eek:

@Iam3G

I had this thread open in a Fx tab prior to this post of yours:and I neglected to refresh this thread prior to posting this [had been open in a tab for quite a while before I posted]:and after having posted that, I saw your post [above], at which point I realised that my post was redundant and a waste of space since you had already replied to v3g's post, so I deleted my post [above], then a few minutes later you posted the following:at which point I decided to undelete my post [above].I do not work for Vodacom.

:p

Understood and i was just kidding about the "Working for Vodacom" thing. I apollogize if i have offended you.

When purchasing a 3G contract or after the 3G contract was purchased and needs to be installed?

Well maybe you can explain in both cases.

And what are the guide lines from Vodacom when selling a 3g Contract?

Both cases...

From the sales side, its basically just about selling the product and making their commision. Failry understandable as 90% of the sales consultant dont know anything abotu IT(not the way we do).

From my side(being the 3G Support Specialist/Data Support Cosultant here) i tell them the need to know. I tell them about the Auto Autoupdates and wether they want it on or off and i explain to them the pro's and con's of having it on or off. I tell them to keep their Anti-Virus up to date and what could happen if they dont(a.k.a this thread).

LOL, you didn't offend me, just got the impression that you thought I might work for Vodacom, and certainly others reading what you posted would also think that I represent Vodacom, and therefore it was necessary to point out that I do not work for nor represent Vodacom.

LOL you should read my post again. I only commented in it that I wouldnt put it past Vodacom to use hypnosis on their customers :D And i just through you in the equation coz you confused the hell out of me :confused: LOL

Vodacom should seriously be acknowledging that these last few weeks their service had degraded substantially.

As the tech support specialist do you inform the sales people to inform the customer on the pitfalls & risks. Is the customer given any instore pamphlets on 3G usage and risks etc.??

@v3g It appears as per the above info from a Vodashop that the customers are still being left to there own. After all these months of discussions a Vodacom respresented outlet still shows the customer a finger when he walks out the door. :mad: :sick: :eek:

The sales people do ask me while they are helping a customer to explain to them certain things. So the customers that walk out of this shop knows what they are in for. Its not all the Vodashops or other Vodacom Approved Dealers that has a guy like me here.

As for in-store pamplets, i will prolly have to have some made. Its nogal a good idea to have the customer leave with this pamplet.
