Please provide proof.[/QUOTE]

That would be up to Vodacom to provide, but would quite obviously open up a can of worms. Everyone exceeding their bundle would want to be credited "in good faith". However, should you want this proof, you are close by - pop in and I will show you:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Proof for passing credits?

Happens a lot, I've been involved many times. Not once have I been able to find a actual billing mistake (trust me, I looked!) but based on customer profile, etc. I've seen huge credits.

But, as posted, I believe the answer is education and proper monitoring, not passing credits.

And hard capping and real time monitoring;)

Proof enough

Yup, that's the letter that comes with your bill as I posted in the sticky on data bundles. There is the other one which you should get in the shop (check the sticky) which is obviously the one 3G4me is handing out.

I know the latest software also pops it up when you install and/or run it.

But I guess we'll need to do a Stella on the boxes.

I apollogize if my posts gave off the impression that I, and the shop i work in, of a "we dont care" attitude. That is not the case. I'm not in the sales side of the shop(nor do i wish to be and to know how they do their work).

Like i said, i wasnt slating any of them, as i know them personally and i know that they dont know half the things i do. They even admit it to me. That's why i do inform them when i can, when they ask my help, when they need advice. Times when i'm not busy, i'm actually standing with one of them while they are writting out a 3G contract for a customer, and me explaining and advising the customer what this is and what that is.

The rest of the time its hard to do so as the shop gets very busy, and i have my own set of customers to deal with.

I dont know what else to say as my brain has switched off and i cant think staright.

Apollogies to anyone i offended.

NO!

There is no vodashop is port shepstone - only a chatz cellular dealership.

I am in Vodashop shelly centre or vodacom4u south coast mall. Coming to visit?

In addition, Vodacom have drawn up a welcome letter (they send this to all new data clients) but which we (in my shops) choose to hand to clients along with the modem. This letter explains everything about spyware, malware, things running in the background, how to check your balance on vodacom4me, not leaving idle modem connected, etc, etc.

V3G have talked about this "welcome letter" you are refering to here. I infact did not get one of these. Any chance that I could get my hands on one of these things?

Thanks for clarifying Iam3G!

As you said earlier, not all stores are lucky enough to have data specialists, (mostly only stores with vodacares) so in my stores I have had to upskill most of the "sales people" with data and I.t. knowledge, which sadly means they spend alot of time setting up computers (mostly nothing to do with the 3G connection) and less time selling.

What really get's my goat is that you have dealerships, incredible connection and now even Game selling 3G - do you think they even care about helping the client install the product, let alone troubleshooting computer issues, would they even know where to start? Not on your life, they send the client to a vodashop.

Then, when the client gets irate, he blames the vodashop - as he sees us as an extension of vodacom. Free service and free help, no matter that he took the line from our competitors - and we pay our own rent and staff/operational costs. No thought is given to blaming the lack of service he got from whoever sold him the line?

Grrrrrrrrr!!!!

If only it were that simple....

A standardised way of informing cutomers would certainly be welcome:)

A single page document with say 10 large print pointers on indicating the issue/risks. Let the customer sign it after he has read the document. The document should not be seen as a threat to nail the customer and say we warned you now xxx. @Iam3g The type of work a sales person does in a Vodashop IMO is IT related so he should be informed or taught the basic stuff.

The document should be in a bright colour so it is easy to see and take note of.

People read but they dont really understand what they are reading. They are to scared to ask. Want to get home and use the new toy etc.

Its easy BLOCK from day 1

I love this point to bits and this is where it all starts.

The good news is that you will not be prevented from accessing the Internet once your monthly bundle is depleted. You will simply be billed at the applicable out-of-bundle data rate (e.g. R 1.20 per Megabyte). But the customer is not explained what a Megabyte is and how quick a Megabyte is used and at R 1.20 it is 6 times (@.19c) more expensive than the inbundle rate. Now that is the good news. What about the bad news, there is none I suppose

Like Csnoopy said, the newbies may read the info if it is provided but still not understand it due to their limited knowledge. I know in the company where I work I had to teach my supervisor how to use email simply because he had never used the internet or email before. Sure I understand that Vodacom can't give customers pc training courses but by telling customers (that don't understand the pc/IT concepts) that oob is "good news" they are certainly creating problems for themselves and their customer like this R10k issue. The best solutions all round would hard capping as well as rollover.

Yesterday according to netmeter and HMP I used +/- 15MB will according to the balances I got back from the USSD commands and on V4me I used +/- 70MB  This after only browsing this site and downloading a 4MB file. The file was downloaded using the Orbit download manager and finished in under 2 minutes becuase even though I was getting crappy speeds on normal browsing I got consistent speeds of 50-60KB/s on that download.

Any suggestions, V3g?

Edit: The figures being billed have previously been consistent with Netmeter and HMP/ HMC figures.
