Vodacom 1GB and 2GB data special pricing comparison

so back in the days when mybb use to be a IT news site, they used myadsl.co.za
maybe now its time for them to move to myadverts.co.za since every article seems to be a paid advert instead of a news article?

I don't mean to be rude but that is how it has always been. Do you think they run this site because they got nothing better to do?

They run it to make money and amazingly advertising brings in money.

It's easy to make one ISP look better than the rest, just tune/narrow your article scope to where they offer the best product, ala 1 and 2GB data packages. Yes 8ta 10GB promo is the best priced, but their network, where I stay, is anything but fast, yes it's stable, but it's slow(100 kilobytes max). And yes I do live in the coverage area! My office falls outside the coverage area and I get better speed there, but not much better!

VC's new promo pricing is very keen! It's clear they aren't interested in the masses pulling 10GB a month off their network. They know this will only lead to serious congestion and bad user experience! Remember how we all battled with CellC 24/60GB promo's. Started well, but bad user experiences tainted the whole promo! Where exactly have those promo's left CellC... pretty much so back at square one!

VC's plans are smarter than we give them credit for... Jannie do I get a free beer for saying that? :D

They comparing the 1GB and 2GB packages

They're also comparing some packages that cost over R200. So it makes sense to include the 10GB for R199 8ta deal. Just seems like they left out the other good deals on purpose to make Vodacom look better.

The above special has been running for over 6 months and will most likely still be running after Vodacom ends their specials. So the Vodacom deals are even more short term and less newsworthy.

I don't quite get this deal.
minimum price for 1 gig is R49 and maximum is R99.
What does this mean.

8ta's network coverage for the 10Gig promo is still sh*t.

Everyone I know that's on 8ta locks their phones to the MTN network so they actually have signal that doesn't randomly disappear.

I'm in Hout Bay. I would have thought 8ta's signal here would be bad but it absolutely flies. Better than Vodacom, MTN and Cell C. Its also been very reliable so far. Certainly can't beat the price (yet) so I'm very happy with my decision.

I'm glad to see Vodacom atleast trying to compete. I now use them as a backup. When they have a package of 10GB for R199 I may reconsider.

Nice vodacom, but why can i not add this as a bundle? I don't need another dongle hanging around in my laptop bag...
Why can I not add this onto my phone contract???

Still only get 250MB of data for R99 if I add on...
Maybe you need to update the vodacom website...

I think it was a huge oversight for not including the R 199 10GB 8ta contract. Given tbat other R 200 plus contracts were included.

The article is therefore severely flawed and should be amended. I am disappointed by this oversight by you Rudolph.

None of our operators give us a speed guarantee and they probably cant. That means some will have a great experience with different networks.

Anyone considering Vodacom should first :

1) Wait until last minute (06 May 2012) when the deal may be coming to an end, or get extended.
2) Find R149 to burn, in case it is a dead loss
3) Try 8ta's 3GB go big deal and use it over the next 60 days.
4) If it is a loss, look at Vodacom again knowing that you got some small value for that R149.
5) If you were satisified and the data was adequate for the 60 days, get another R149 8ta bundle and consider the Vodacom contract then.
or if you were satisfied and the data was too little, consider an 8ta contract
6) Realise that around 06 May there may be another great deal from any of the operators.

Avoid signing 24 month data contracts, because there are many out there who signed 1GB 24 month contracts at over R300 who are now seething with these new deals coming around.

Bottom line, before signing with Vodacom, try 8ta - you have lot more to gain to delay the Vodacom contract.
