Vodacom black friday 2023

Thanks, I'm fairly sure I looked at it via the My Vodacom app earlier and the highlighted text wasn't there.

Thanks, I'd have no use for it if they ever enforced those device restrictions though.
My son is currently using our 300GB Home Internet deal from 2021 in his phone at varsity. He's never had issues with it and the signal's been solid and the local towers even stay up during loadshedding.

When we signed up they however did not have these disclaimers about "approved routers" which makes me skeptical about upgrading to these deals now being offered. Not sure I want to risk signing up for a service that might not suit my needs.

Anyone of them with data share ???

I think if you take the same deal on the open line contract multi sim is available but not 100% sure as I have never done that so maybe wait for someone else to advise that has multi sim currently.

I'm in the same boat, I'm looking for mobile data, not home internet/fixed internet. Nothing so far, but still holding thumbs that something pops up to replace my expiring 300GB deal from 2021.

Don't even need that much data, a 100GB deal will do. If nothing comes along, I'll cancel and sign up for that 200GB MTN deal @ R 399. At least u can data share on that as well and it's proper mobile data.
I'm also waiting for a mobile data sim, in my area during loading, mtn is also down. I was at the store yesterday and they said there will be more deals dropping this Friday.

The 250GB (150GB anytime) is a good deal for most that are not heavy users. R199 PM is not bad at all.

Exactly what I'm looking for actually. The 300+300 deal 2 years ago was great but I never came close to using it all

edit: can anyone confirm if this also needs an approved router?

Vodacom are beyond a joke - they eventually got back to me. I don't qualify for a contract - even though I'm permanently employed at the same company for over 15 years, own property, own vehicles - and can pay the entire contract off with a days salary.

EDIT: Second call said I have a bad credit score, pulled all four credit reports and there's literally nothing wrong on any of them. All in good standing, only have 3 accounts up-to-date - and the scores are all marked as Low Risk/Great/Excellent/etc

I had a vaguely similar issue with Vodacom Online a few years ago. I asked why was i not approved despite me having a squeeky clean credit record and the comment was something about looking like my profile was flagged for fraud. I think i had some big amounts going in and out at the time on the statements I sent them so I just assumed that was the reason, I was so over it at that point and the deal I wanted was long gone.

Yeh, they can't provide any valid reason, and aren't really interested in resolutoin, computey says no. They told me I can reapply in 60 days. Haven't had a cellphone contract in 10+ years, very little change of me applying again.

Something similar happened to me in the past, in the end it turned out that the person I was dealing with had entered my bank account details completely incorrectly.

100% its a mistake, but - you don't go beyond call centers.

Anyway, shot out quick and bought a phone cash.... so no longer an issue for me.

Can the 250GB for R199/month deal be used in a phone?
No, I confirmed with the Vodacom via Facebook. They stated it doesn't matter if "approved router" is stated or not. All that matters is that they have a general policy that all the Home Internet plans require a router. The only difference, I suspect here is that you do not need a specific router. At the end of the day, it may or may not work in a smartphone.

This is confusing called in the morning and asked about the 700gb sim, I was told I can use it on a pocket router.

Yes that's what I've stated. These only differ in the sense that you don't need an "approved router" like Alcatel, Hauwei, Nokia, etc. But you still may only be able to use in a router. At the end, I'm not getting into a contract based on the assumption that It may or may not work.

Agreed, I want something that can be popped into a phone to be used on the go. Don't want to bother with a pocket router as it's a hassle.
