I thought the current fees were R1.25 and not around R1.00 as this article says. Is someone trying to obscure the facts here. If it was by me I would reduce the icf to R0.15c and call it pay-back-time
I dont see how they can interchange the words revenue and loss. Revenue is not equal to profit/loss. What this article is implying (and Vodacom) is that the interconnection fee is pure profit... but maybe it is....
Oh and it does not mean that they will loose all that money... cheaper calls means that people might use their phones more often.... so they could even cover that loss.
+1
but then you would what inter-connects have to do with data prices...
our operators are real operators with MTN claiming a 20% income loss if the rates are cut. profiteering ftw then
Vodacom has so much money already, so lossing R1bn really isn't a big deal. Maybe it is time to stop sponsoring every tom dick and harry for a change. i'm sick and tired of hearing a rugby team named after Vodacom. So frikken lame!
Who cares if a Corporate (1 entity) whose profit is measured in billions has a billion shaved off said profit (they don't mention how much they make just how much they're gonna loose) when millions of people (multiple entities) stand to gain from this. I'd say scrap interconnects altogether. ****ing greedy pigs those shareholders.
It's money they weren't entitled to in the first place. It's like the bank robber shouting: "How can you stop me robbing banks? I'll be making less money!"
Its all about shareholders.... never customers. They will just recoup the "loss" elsewhere. They just need to study the banks to see how to squeeze as much as they can from the customer.
