Dear ****

Vodacom values you as a customer. In the interest of ensuring customer information security, kindly provide us with the contract details below in order to verify that you are the account holder.

We would need the following information:

Identity number

Bank name and account type

Contract Package

Upon receipt of this information, we can advise you accordingly.

Hope you have a Mofaya Day!

Warm regards,

Zunaid Ismail

No - this is very bad service. You can go look up my MSISDN if you want all that info, and you can verify and see that my bill is sent to this very same email address.

If you really value me as customer you would not doubt that I who I claim to be. Besides, all I wanted to know is how much I would have to pay in of a phone in two contracts. I could walk into a Vodashop anonymously and get this information.

It was stupid of me to think that I could get this by simply writing to you. After 12 years on Vodacom I still feel like a nobody and the treatment I get as customer is...well... not existent. This turns my mofaya summer into a p*ss cold winter.

Should you have any interest in keeping me as customer I strongly suggest you forward this email not only to your manager, but also to the customer retention department.

Good bye.

I think the people at Vodacom Customer Care became suspicious when you asked for an HTC instead of a Nokia.

Who are you, and what have you done with the real Rouxenator?

Vodacom Customer Care is useless through any channel - as with most companies that are Affirmative Action driven.

HTC DESIRE S @ R 2759 CASH ON TOP UP, 135 (per minute billing only)
HTC DESIRE S @ R 3199 CASH ON TOP UP, 135s

That sticky is there for a reason meneer. :p
Guess I should pay more attention then :p

But it was a good test to see how crappy they are. I still have not decided on either of the two (Desire or 700) and even if I do get a Desire I'll keep on being a Nokia supporter. But I am always keen for a good deal, and the Desire does offer more than the 700 in some areas.

Two working days? Are you for real?! Look, please don't even bother with it. I got the answers I wanted online.

My thoughts exactly :)

Roux, as the last surviving Nokia fanboi, maybe hang on a bit. Some of those 'not coming to SA' reports might be a bit off. ;)

Yeah, I heard the 701 might be coming after all, but I never hang on to a phone that long. Last time I upgraded it was to a N97 which I sold less than a month later, nothing wrong with the phone but I liked the 5800 more. That being said I sold the 5800 after 9 months and got an N8 which I used for 10 month and then broke it, refurbished it and sold it. For the fun I switched back to a 5800 with custom firmware and I'll probably keep it until I upgrade. It really is a strong and long lasting phone.

I really like what I saw in the Desire S so I am quite keen to play around with it. But I'll probably get a 700 or 701 sometime later next year because they are some of the best looking new Nokias I have seen. Maybe after them I'll try a Windows phone but right now they are not ripe for me.
