Vodacom developing eSIM support

Ok, so let's say Vodacom gets the eSim working in SA.

What happens when you travel, whether it is Botswana, or the USA ?

Will roaming work ?

Will we see esim support for devices not stocked by Vodacom? Such as the pixel phones?

Having no problem with eSIM, I want my Huawei Y6 2018 purchased from Vodacom working with VoWiFi on Vodacom network. Any news??????????

Is it under NDA?

Is VoWiFi working well on Vodacom on supported handsets.

No, nowhere near as stable as Cell C. Vodacom vowifi works a few days at a time then stops working for a few days.

That’s sad. Was hoping to port to Vodacom for VoWiFi and e-sim support.

Cell c is a crappy network

If its for vowifi then definitely NOT. Cell C in terms of vowifi are very solid so far.

And e-sim is working with it?

I'll provide updates as and when it happens. There's been a few teething issues, since I was the first to take out this contract. So what I can state now is, you need to take a smart XS contract out, sim only. The watch is added on to this contract and then the watch's esim will be linked to the new sim.

My esim has not been linked yet, I'm trying to get my profile registered on the vodacom website to get a code to get it done. The support guy said I must try again tomorrow.

Wonder if any more products will get added to esim like a Apple phone as sure is taking long to implement

After the announcement and fanfare that greeted the news of the eSim roll out back in March, we were met with a brick wall about any further sort of details.

But it’s cool. You’ll be happy to know that Vodacom execs use eSim so no real hurry to roll out “further” or share any plans with the paying public anymore.

VoWifi worked well during international travel in December 18” but I dont use it at home as coverage is good with no cost benefit.
