Vodacom double debit

So. Vodacom decided to start the year off with a bang. Double debited my account this morning. Anyone else have the same problem?

Same problem with my wife.
 
Seems like it was a big oops by the accounting department. They will be reversing it on Monday due the banks being closed today

How many million contract subscribers x 4 days' interest? Yeah, "oops".
 
Yup, double-billed me this morning.
 
My debit goes off my credit card. Received notification for one debit, and only one amount reserved. Will check again when transaction reflects on statement.
 
One of the reasons I've canned debit orders where possible. MTN had the same issue months ago.

Seen a lot of posts on other forums regarding people now not having enough money left in their accounts for their other debit orders, plus the penalties involved.
 
Same here, double debit order went off, it even shows if you go to your statements on the Vodacom billing page.

Thats a bit worrying if your cellphone bill is doubled and you can't pay your other bills...

Anyway looks like it might have happened to me as well.

My contract came to an end this month and I was supposed to drop down to R180 (from R360) but looks like I have been billed for R460 odd.

Wasn't sure because I got a data bundle this month and Im never sure when they actually debit these things, sometimes its the next month.
 
Vodacom Double Debit Orders

So has anyone else noticed that Vodacom has doubled their debit order today? I called the call centre and the lady said that they've debited every customer twice:sick:

A quick look at Hellopeter suggests to me that this is probably the case. I think most people just haven't picked it up yet.
 
I got ripped off on OOB and double billed on that huge amount today. Feels like vodascum DP'd me.
 
"OOPS!!!!" aaah damn! you mean the money must stay in our account for a few days earning interst before returning it!?

so who fines these companies for making such big "mistakes"

and i love how the banks just lets them take, no red flag for a double DD coming off... pathetic banks too tbh.

Direct Debit in South Africa = Here is the key to my account I HOPE you only take what we agreed upon.

Same here, now account in O/D and I don't have an O/D facility. So now I get charged honour fees and hope the debit orders for Monday also get honoured. Big f#&ck up. Happy new year to you to Vodacom NOT!!
