Vodacom: #EpicFail

You did get the part where I said I mainly use wifi? Unlike BB users I can actually setup my wifi so I have very little need for mobile network data.

However, if I do need it I know it will be way faster than BB speeds :

Get Mweb uncapped, I do 500GB a month on it - its unlimited.

.

I will look into it, thank you @ Roux. I'm just frustrated because we signed up end of Jan this year and I still have 17 months left on this contract. I just want them to honor their agreement for the duration of the contract because, I honor mine. One shouldn't change rules or stipulations mid-air, it speaks of poor character and flaw in integrity. It is alltogether poor conduct.

So, I'm just extremely displeased.

Thanks again for the advice @ Roux. :-D

@ Vzta22 - it makes a lot of sense what you just shared. Thank you.

We tend to see things from a consumer perspective and don't hold the business end into account.

However, they should still honor their current agreements and bring the change in with new subscriptions/clients/contracts.

P.S. I've checked the *111# data bundle service, the prices are still the same it's been for the last year and a half, nothings' changed there.

So then stop them, why must they nail the users who just browse and use it normally? Why are they collectively punishing all the users because 5% abuse the service?

Well killadoob, my Vodacom crystal ball seems to be in for repair after it was broken in an unfortunate skiing accident, so maybe you should ask Vodacom. :wtf:

Spoken like a true Samsung Galaxy II user...:p :D

hehe :) Ag Im just trying to lighten the mood... I see everyone is lank worked up (and rightly so) but its not really worth it. Rather just get over it and learn to live with it.

This whole thing is almost identical to the MWEB shaping drama. Few people abuse, many people get abused  people will flame and rage on and on, but at the end of the day if you got friends that have been raping tv series over 3g give em a call and say thanks you douche!

And no Im no an S2 user :D

My wife says she cannot access any data on her BB today, no whatsapp, nadda.

High data pricing, dropped calls (More breakdowns?), expensive voice contracts, ego the size of Jupiter and now this? What's next? Pay for expenses incured during the RED paint makeover? AAAHHH!!! We're already paying for that.

As soon as my contract ends, I'm out.

VC took a leaf out of SARS' book - get the consumer to do the cr@p work like tax collection. It is obvious that VC MUST know who the abusers are, but it is easier to put a blanket limit in place than nail a small percentage of users.

What's with all the BlackBerry threads?
I had to check the URL, still says mybroadband.co.za not myblackberry.co.za.

This uncapped, 100MB at full-speed, thereafter throttled to 236kbps deal @ R59 per month doesn't sound too bad. I wonder whether Vodacom will make it available for non-BlackBerry devices?

This will probably sound dumb but I haven't got a clue about Wi-Fi so, please humor me...

I've heard many people say they don't mind the BIS or data bundle issues because they have Wi-Fi. Who pays for the data when one is on Wi-Fi then?

@ Jannievanzyl

How long have you known that this was going to happen?
These things don't happen overnight.

You're forgiven, most BB don't have a clue about anything outside BBM :)

Lol, thanx Mike. I don't even have the BBM app on my phone, it's the only annoying thing of BlackBerry for me. (That, and BB's tiny internal memories).

Can I ask for an instant gratification answer please, as to who PAYS for the data people use while on wi-fi? It sounds as if people mean to say they get it for free. Which troubles me because how is it then different from BIS users? Both are free if I understand it at all? If this is the case, how come there's double standards?

That's all I'm trying to understand at this point.

Ok, typically people who have ADSL lines at home, can set up a wireless access point from the ADSL router. Then you can connect devices that support WiFi (laptops, cellphones, etc.) to this access point, and access the internet via your ADSL line. You can configure your devices to automatically connect to the access point, so that when you get within range, it will use your ADSL account. That way you don't have to do it every time.

Vodacom said that steps have been taken to ensure that the 95% of the BlackBerry users who are currently using the service fairly are not impacted by “those who are abusing the service”.

100MB/month is "abuse"? Seriously? That's comical.
