Vodacom extends prepaid data promotion (May 2013)

What a surprise...

They will just keep extending it as they don't need promotional pricing approved by IKAKA

If I am not mistaken... This is not available to Top-up contract customers? Can someone please confirm, because I don't get these options when I try to buy a once-off data bundle with my Top-up airtime...

And as per usual top-up customers get shafted, "All the advantages of Pre-Paid but on a contract" my @#$@#

Seems like my last 2 hour chat to the call center didn't make any difference, not that I thought it would.

Just bought the 20Gig yesterday and now this....GREAT!!! Wish 8ta or CellC would come up with something this "big" at a lower a price point....of course.:D

The 20Gig promo is useless for people who use a 3G router or tablet without USSD. For some reason Vodacom has decided to not allow you to check your balance on these promo bundles through their web portal meaning the only way to check the balance for this promo is to physically take the sim card out of your router or other device and stick it in a cellphone.

So they launched these specials on 27 March to when, seeing that now they are extended to 30 June? And the contract specials end on 6 June.

Seems like a dangling carrot to me.

Unless your typical usage per month is around 8-10GB and the other ~10GB is "headroom" or "safety net" then you don't/shouldn't have to check often. The issue of being tempted to let rip, so to speak, now that you have more data than you are accustomed to is another matter.Valid point though.

The issue here is (for me at least) is that your data expires at the end of the month, so if you don't use it, you lose it.
I pay for something, I use it till it runs out... but this has been a old argument.

*Sigh*

In fact on the first time Vodacom first launched this I was shocked to find with 5 days to expiry that I still had ~5Gb...and the man had to do what a man had to do.

Actually TopUp customers have been having it since last year.......

and contract customers?

When do we get cheaper bolt-on data bundles?

There has been a reduction on the monthly recurring data bundles on contract. Old price for the 1gig was R249.00 per month not too long ago. It is now R149.00 per month...and though this is a recurring bundle...you may ask us to remove it from your account again no problem.
