Vodacom fibre

We are getting Vodacom fibre in our complex. Apparently the other fibre providers weren't interested no matter how much we pleaded.

I was hoping for Vumatel but any fibre is better than no fibre. So my big question is, those on Vodacom fibre, how have your experience been? Especially with regards to gaming?

Uncle MickeyD...I forgot to mention that it is a business premises but I don’t need business type SLA so not sure if it will apply with Telkom?

Also it’s a 2 year contract.

@Yuu the speed is the same for both.

The premises does not matter.

The following matters:

1. Openserve fibre is available?
2. If yes then you can get fibre from ANY isp that offers Openserve Telkom,Afrihost,Axxess,ISPAfrika,Cool Ideas,Vox,Vodacom,Webfrica,Openweb,BuzyBuy,Level-7 and the many many many more ISP's that offer adsl too. Openserve is so flexible compared to others.

When you talking about Vodacom fibre it's their actual fibre lines. but Vodacom fibre via Openserve means Vodacom is just your ISP and Openserve is the fibre provider.

Vodacom are trenching in highway gardens.

Does anyone know if it's theirs or Openserve? Just wondering if we have to go with Vodacom or can use another ISP - or wait for them to go open access.

Done anyone know how to open ports on the router provided but vodacom ?

a friend of mine cant open ports for his NVR camera system and he has to phone on a monthly basis for them to keep opening his ports.

Thanks!

VPN is one way of getting around blocked ports.

In the estate I live in we only have Vodacom fiber, no issues what so ever and always get full speed. Only issue is I would prefer higher download speed with lower cap for a more competitive price as we dont download the internet.

I signed up to Vodacom fibre today. They are just about finished laying the fibre in our complex. Lets see how it goes!

Lol if you think vodacom will react within 2 days for install when fibre just went in you are smoking something

I can second this. The only option in our estate at this stage is Vodacom. Signed up at the end of November after being promised 5 to 10 day installation. Still waiting. The team doing installations were off from 18 December and only started again today, although I think that might not be true, as the numbers you can call for them still are not getting answered. I still work for a UK based company after recently returning to South Africa. If I had known that it would take this long, I would have signed up for ADSL as well. Hopefully one of them would have been installed last year.

Don't even get me started on trying to work on a mobile connection, be it Vodacom or MTN. The second 09:00 strikes it is basically impossible to log on to my computer in the UK. So currently I am a internet beggar, moving between my friends to get some work done. Really missing my 300Mbps connection in the UK right about now. The prices ISP charge over here is absolutely crazy!!

100%... the prices we pay are CRIMINAL. And the availability sucks.
Can't wait to move to Germany...

A vodacom rep just came past my house. I expected it would a be waste of time but it wasn't. They claiming to hopefully install within 2 weeks and they are priced competitively. R799 for 20/20 uncapped FUP of 1tb then drop to 15/15 (not sure i believe this) most important its month to month with all install costs covered and a free router. I am waiting to get the actual confirmation. if its all true i think its a very good deal. they also offering 50/50 uncapped for 1k.

Someone is lying to you or their website is incorrect...

What area are you in?

I'm in the same situation, Vodacom trenched via a third party.

App sales guys going to come knocking on doors during the week to see who is keen to sign up.

I'm in JHB South.
