Vodacom fibre

Sadly its been almost a week and I haven't heard anything. I have been approved on vodacoms side this was quick as I have lots of phone contracts with them. but nothing from fibrehoods/vumatel.
 
So the sales rep visited me last night, I asked if there was any promotional deals, like the R799 for 20/20 he said no. Showed me the deals he has on offer, its the same ones as the website. He doesn't know where that other sales rep got it from.

Who provides the infrastructure in your area . Maybe the promotion is only on Fibrehoods/Vumaltel. If it is fibrehoods/vumatel let me know and ill get the rep to give you a call.

Yeah I think it's that. Thanks for the offer Sir Bob. But sadly Vodacom provides the infrastructure. What's annoys me is that the suburb next to me, Vumatel are doing the trenching!!
 
And the battle begins I got a vumatel login and it shows 20/2 and installation costs. The rep tried to sell me 20/20 and no installation costs.

Update: I called the vodacom rep and she agreed that the line should be 20/20 and not 20/2 hopefully this doesn't delay the installation.

Vodacom (I think) is busy trenching in Norkem Park. I have just signed with Afrihost for LTE-A (through Rain). Still waiting for the router to be delivered (on backorder).
Is there any way I can find out which company is installing the fibre? None of the coverage maps are up to date, most are months behind. My son lives in Sharonlea and he has had fibre for almost 2 years - Vumatel did the fibre, but I think he is with Afrihost. And most coverage maps don't show that there is fibre coverage in Sharonlea.
Will Afrihost change my LTE-A to fibre when it is operational, without me having to pay for the (free issue) LTE-A router?
 
Home survey is scheduled for tomorrow and then installation should be on Wednesday. The Vodacom coverage map also shows that my area now has fibre. :)

Openserve?

R1299 is not a bad price for the uncapped deal month to month on Openserve. I see most other providers are going for R1499 for uncapped month 2 month and cool ideas is R1899 for 100Mbps. Ouch.

2.2TB fair use for the uncapped account on Openserve 100Mbps. What a deal. I have not seen a better deal than that for uncapped on Openserve 100Mbps.

Nope, Vodacom 100/50 1TB @R1499. :sick: But I need the speed... :p
 
Using their router. From what I have read so far, they will not give you the PPPoE details to use your own router. There is a way to get it though, but I am not going to bother. I am however using my own Unify AP AC Lite, as I could not even get full speed over wireless with their routers' wireless. :erm:

I am impressed. Vumatel came Monday morning and installed the router and did a neat job installing the ONT. Vodacom then came Wednesday and installed the router. The line was syncing at 2 instead of 20 they sorted that out quickly however the upload speed is still incorrect but they have promised to fix this.

Wait, is Vumatel your fibre provider and you are using Vodacom as your ISP?
What is your upload speed? Because with Vodacom, it will be 20mbps DL and 10mbps UL.

Vumatel/Fibrehoods infrastructure and vodacom ISP. It is a promotional deal sold by a salesperson who rang the bell. Its supposed to be 20/20 uncapped with no extra costs. so far its been decent service except for the upload speed.
