Hwsit Guys

Apologies if this post has been answered before but I couldn't seem to find any answers.

Our estate in Greenstone has installed Vodacom FFTH some while back. I read that Vodacom now has uncapped packages which only seems to be through their third party fibre companies and Vodacom as the ISP.

They aren't offering such packages to their own Vodacom FFTH clients. Why does Vodacom not allow those third party fibre companies to be ISP's for Vodacom FTTH clients.

Apologies if I did not explain well. Any light on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bushwillow, yeah?

The simple answer is that in estates where Vodacom supplies the infrastructure, they are not open access in any practical sense.

They have 'open access' pricing they give the isp's, but is so high, there's no main in it, and the guys can't really make it work. Hopefully at some point they bring it down. They do it specifically to lock you guys as end users in for as long as they can.

They do not offer open access as things stand, they allow 3rd party ISPs to resell their packages. Chatted to the manager heading it up last week. We have had capacity into Vodacoms DC for this for months with them keep pushing back the dates to become "open"

Thanks for the feedback. Well looks like I'll just have to wait it out for either a price drop or open access.

While you waiting start shouting at your estate HOA for choosing Vodacom

Oh how I wish I could. They apparently chose Vodacom because "they were the best":erm:

They asked us to vote when MTN and Vodacom wanted to put masts up in the estate but couldn't ask us to vote on this matter.

Well first world problems huh!

A few plush estates in our area got vodacom ftth...I wondered how because there was no fibre backhaul available in these areas...then discovered the microwave links out of the estates, microwave backhaul not fibre :wtf:
