Just depends on how much BW you are buying if its less than 500mb then yes they prob will sell quite a few 5mb ones
So the 2Gig is still the one to go for, for average users, and the 5MB one works out best per MB for people using less than 1GB
Now it is up to 7 people. Seacom hasn't kicked in yet, so this is a pre-emptive move from Vodacom. So things can only get better when Seacom does kick in.

25mb will make a huge difference if you use the data bundle on your phone to browse, or just a random use as a pc modem...so ymost good news...

*#62209526# on a Nokia with some kind of wireless network does show its MAC ID (*#MAC WLAN#)
ipconfig at the command line for *nix and OS X reveals the MAC ID - no idea how its done in Windows but I suspect it is something similar. Takes the form 00:11:22:33:44:55
why doesnt VC just go ahead and drop the prices of data? we get the message, we are paying for much less than we getting, hence the creativity with the freebies every month. start the price war, we dont mind

That's actually the 'Media Access Control' address and refers to the hardware address used at the MAC layer of the OSI stack.

You are right that MAC suggests that it is an acronym for something. And you are also correct that in either event, the apostrophe is not needed.

Need another option to the poll: Useless.
Since "roll-over" is only valid until the end of the next month, all these data bundles are useless to me... I normally use my ADSL (with Prepaid 5GB with auto renewal, which works like a charm!), and only when I have to work at the client site do I use my phone to connect and get my email. Thus, I need a non-expiry data bundle... 10% extra is just absolutely useless!

It's not "not so much", it's just pathetic. Which is why I think a few people would vote bad news. Not that it can really be bad news, just that it is actually laughable when people say something like "Its a step in the right direction in my opinion, if the uptake is good, who knows... maybe bigger bundled freebies!!", and this is about 25MB->200MB typical increase in caps. I mean really... these prices are seriously disgusting for "broadband" use.
Edit: So I know how I sound, not helping etc. But I don't think we should even be accepting that we have to get prices like this and then be happy with 10% increases when it amounts to next to nothing.I didn't vote though.

They dnt have seacom yet so they are doing it for money,pulling in ppl on contracts that you must pay and when seacom comes the price will drop so low locking these people in.

Just curious to know, all those people complaining about this promotion...do you complain about your birthday and christmas gifts as well? They don't HAVE to give you this promotion, it's a FREE gift...yes as in the whole beer thing. But still, something is better than nothing, and in South Africa of all places, why are people so surprised there are strings attached? Nothing is really free here,but at least this little jab might inspire some competition and get some 'getting one over on the competition going'. If the other networks respond in the like and also start offering extra data, with any luck the 10% would hopefully grow. At the moment though this is sounding like the wage talks we always see people striking over, they want a 10% increase in pay and won't settle for anything less...but an increase is an increase and at least a step in the right direction. We've been waiting how long for this other undersea cable and hoping it'll change the face of South African internet and the pricing, so what's so bad with a little pre-emptive promo?
