Vodacom increasing prices

I personally would have liked to see the existing people that is already in a contract keep their rates and when they upgrade the new rates kick in. Problem with that is on the back end. Tariffs work on tariff codes on our system, and those codes have got pricing attached, so you increase the trariff code, you increase everyone on that tariff. Not sure how this can be worked around in terms of IT etc. That is just how far my knowledge goes in terms of my daily working with it.

If they wanted to they could probably apply a discount for the life of the contract....I don't think they will though.

Oh please...You people cry rivers of tears re. R30 per month, but you will save up for a R6000 hand set?? By the time you have enough money for that S6 or i5, it will be a S16 and i10.....

Shame, you only care about one phone bill. For corporates that have thousands of numbers that is a much bigger increase.

I think it's your own fault if you have signed up for a fancy 24-month contract in the last 2 years just so that you can get a "free" phone. TBH, considering pre-paid, it would have been better for you to dip into your credit-card/accessbond to buy the phone cash and run with pre-paid.

Case in point: I ditched MTN-contract (R690/pm) 3 years ago and went with CellC pre-paid - average spent is now about R150/pm and in essence a 6K/year saving.

I'm glad they increased before I extended my contract. Now I can skip the marketing blab about the increase, start fresh and see what's out there to compare

Contracts can make sense, got Galaxy S2 for R299 shortly after it came out. Cash it would have cost ~R7000. I got R200 of airtime out of it (about 1 hour of calling time) per month and the phone, cost me R7200 over the 24-months.

Even on my credit card with the low 14% interest rate it would have cost more than the contract.

Of course I only care about one phone bill...mine. I don't give a fuk about some corporate that has "thousands of numbers"...and who has that anyway? What corporate will ever have a "thousand" cell phone contracts? That's ridiculous and a stupid example.

That's right. There are 3 reasons for looking at contracts - 1. get a special deal (ie with reduced price handset or double data), 2. get an itemised bill for business/tax, 3. keep your credit rating live

Looks like greed got the better of them...

The whole lot of them. How the bloody fk can it be legal for either party to change the contract mid term. This seriously needs to be fought in con court

Is there no way, as a collective that we can all pool resources to take them on? Surely there's gotta be a lawyer / group of lawyers on here who feel as strongly to help us out (pro bono maybe ;)

Something like OUTA?

I wouldn't mind leaving Vodakak when my contract expires, but where do you go? MTN ignores you, Telkom is Telkom, Cell C is useless...

Having a look on HelloPeter I see we are not the only ones
