Vodacom launches 500MB data special

Some people have no choice but to stick with Vodacom, like myself. Cell C's signal just can't compete..

Agreed, did a test one day. Ran a terminal session from Bellville to the middle of Somerset West/Stellies in the passenger seat. VC went through flawlessly, dropped I think maybe 3 packets at best. Drove back trying other SP's ... not even close!

I'm loving this, that Vodacom has to even pretend to be competing means they are feeling the heat already. Don't worry, I believe the fire is just getting started.

Joined Cell C last week for data and soon to port over my voice number as well.

Vodacom has slashed the price of its 500MB data bundles from the usual R149 per month to R69 per month for a SIM-only contract, and to R79 per month for a package which includes a USB modem.
500MB for R69? HAHAHAHA!! No thanks I'll happily stick with my 10240MB (over 20 times as much data) for R199 (less than 3 times the price) from 8ta instead

Premium bandwidth, you say? What if I counter that claim with the simple fact that my 8ta bandwidth feels virtually unshaped as it is?
Out of bundle vs contract? So in other words calling it something else justifies paying 7 times the price? It's the same data, from the same provider, from the same supporting customer - so why such a radical price difference?

R0.02/MB vs R0.14/MB? No brainer. 7 times the price for the same MB. Folks please let's not throw away our money like idiots by supporting this package... sure, it's an 'improvement', but it's still outright theft before our very eyes

"Vodacom has slashed the price" “You bag a massive R70 saving" "That’s an amazing saving of 47%," -- with terms like these, I'm not sure if I should laugh, cry, or  (sic)

c'mon vodacom you can do better than this hey and what about prepaid. Take a look at the number of the prepaid customers you have, don't you think they deserve better?

Maybe they're particularly weak in the cape.

RPM, please I am begging with tears in my eyes, phone your contacts at Vodacom and tell them we are sick of their "promotions".
They clearly do not listen to the public.
Maybe they will listen to you?

Very wise decision you made.

they dont care about a handful of people bitching on a forum though, while people are queueing tomorrow at their stores salavating at the mouth to sign a 24-month contract

Though people on fourms are usually the "techies" or "tech-savvy" who moms, dads, grandmothers, business customers etc. always consult with before making purchases.

And those who are tech-savvy are usually prone to spending more on data connections, so Vodacom are certainly losing out.

Even then, I don't think most people are that stupid. Surely, they can visit each mobile service operator's website for comparisons.
Even then, MyBroadband is a highly popular site, top 10 I think, they'd see the comments.

I know this, You know this, AKC knows this. VC and MTN underestimate the impact this is gonna have on their bottom line in times to come

These guys should stop trying to beat cellc

Haha....I don't think they've ever tried.

Vodacom prefers everything to stay expensive and to milk ordinary South Africans as much as they can.

I'm sure they are very pissed-off that CellC and 8ta are messing with their insane profit margins.

Dissapointing Vodacom. Not cheap at all, and for me too little too late. at the end of this month its bye bye vodacom :)

Vodacom is running a promotion to see how many customers they can loose.
