Vodacom launches 500MB data special

Unfortunately this is very true. Tomorrow there will be people signing up for this 2 year contract at the malls all over country. Sad, but true....:(

this is what pisses me off. people dont understand enough of what is going on... so tomorrow they go and sign up, happy as a pig in ****

then they plug their stick in, run windows update for 2GB and end up with a R1500 bill at the end of the month.

Im telling you, Vodacom build this into their business model. Im getting very angry about it

Again this type of "special" that really doesn't compete with the current competition leader, just goes to show exactly how arrogant Vodacom are! If they were really trying to compete, they'd offer something around R45/month for 500mb... and kill off that ridiculous OOB shark! Jannie... as long as Vodacom has that OOB rate, I won't be a customer... simple!

8ta FTW, nothing competes with them.

R149 for 2GB prepaid (NO CONTRACTS) and that 2GB lasts two months so effectively if you only use 1GB per month it's R75 per month pre-paid. Take that and and smoke it VC.

+1

8ta Ftw. It really is a fantastic deal.

Cell C is great too.

Vodacom + MTN

Surely they cant be that out of touch with reality to launch 'promotions' like these ? I think Vodascum is doing these 'promotions' on purpose, just to drive up our blood pressure and see what level of nauseousness they can get out of us.

No... they really are. I am willing to bet money that if you go and look AT EVERY SINGLE "promotion" of Vodacom that has been punted on here, you will find that it is in some way more expensive or you get less or the terms and conditions are ridiculous in comparison to any other SA operator.

One of my pet peeves are when people use stupid names to refer to idiot institutions, such as cANCer, Hellkom, Monochoice... etc, it is one of the most dumbest things to do and irritates the cr@p out of me, but for the first time ever........
I cannot help but think that VodaCON has completely and irreversibly lost all touch with reality.

they dont care about a handful of people bitching on a forum though, while people are queueing tomorrow at their stores salavating at the mouth to sign a 24-month contract

Does this mean that this is of lessor quality since it is "cheaper"? Or of "lessor" premium than the other products?

Though people on fourms are usually the "techies" or "tech-savvy" who moms, dads, grandmothers, business customers etc. always consult with before making purchases.

And those who are tech-savvy are usually prone to spending more on data connections, so Vodacom are certainly losing out.

Even then, I don't think most people are that stupid. Surely, they can visit each mobile service operator's website for comparisons.
Even then, MyBroadband is a highly popular site, top 10 I think, they'd see the comments.

The R1 per MB OOB... eish... especially when put into the cost context...

Vodacom has previously argued that the real cost of mobile data is around 10c per MB, making it unsustainable to drop retail prices to below 10c per MB.

However, Knott-Craig said that he does not buy Vodacom’s view that the cost of providing a MB of mobile data is somewhere between 10c per MB and 15c per MB.

Unsustainable is as the competitor does.

Well it seems Vodacom are responsible for James Cameron having to go so deep to raise the bar. They've set it that low..

But but you don't understand, this is PREMIUM quality data, not a normal 500mb cell c or 8ta data contract.

And may you stick with it for the foreseeable future.:D

Some people have no choice but to stick with Vodacom, like myself. Cell C's signal just can't compete. A great value for money deal suddenly becomes a crap one when phone calls drop after a few seconds and you struggle to load a web page on your phone.

As soon as that changes myself and the people who I know who stay with Vodacom for the same reason will happily jump ship.
