Vodacom MNP problem!

@ yebocan. I think what we must remember is that systems being used by the networks are rather complex. When MNP was made available these systems now had to start talking to each other. Lots of room I think for things to go wrong. I have done a few ports (mostly for corporates) and most of the time it goes smoothly. The most difficult part is to get the ports approved by the donor network. If you do not enter the exact same details as the ones that the donor network has on their system, it gets declined by their system.

I'm pm'd you the original 2 sim numbers maybe they can be used. Otherwise I can go to Pick n Pay and get more.

Checked those too...doing the same thing. Already RICA'd and so does not want to let the activation of the port go through. I think get new packs from P&P and lets give those a shot.

Dont buy them just yet i want the PST team to call you OC 1st.
Whats your contact details OC(you dont mind be calling you Oc hey :D)

OK, sorry missed your message was eager to get the packs as quick as possible. So I have 2 new pristine packs if we need to use them.

Pleasure. Glad I could help. Warwick a very nice guy on the phone. Hopefully he will now change that angry little red face on this thread to a smiling one? hehe

Thanks guys, I will confirm with you in the morning that its working correctly.

oc, says all I need to do after 8pm or later is insert the new sims dial 100 and choose the option to activate.

@ ocleroux

Understand what you are saying...it is just ....whenever new interoperator services goes live, there are issues.....which like you stated is normal, but MNP has been with us for nearly 24 months, - was the process made so complex, as the frustrate potential porters?, looking at the UK model, they had teething issues--....but now its like activating a new sim seamless....to add fines get issued if porting is not done in a particular time frame...sometimes a big stick helps to create smooth movement.....

Yes...but what happened now is RICA came into the picture. The RICA system and Prepaid port activation system was merged into one system so the RICA and Prepaid port activation now needs to be done @ the same time. Not sure how the dealer that was helping warwick down in the Cape was doing it but either he did something funny or something went wrong on the system. I suspect it was user error on the dealers part.

mwhahahaha. Please VD....dont start another trend....Ive had enough nicknames to deal with @ school thank you very much.

PS: Anyone calls me potjie kos on here and see what happens!!!! hahahahaha.

OK....just checked on the system and both numbers now available for me to view....port done. To be on the safe side, only activate the sims from 8 tonight.

I forgot to ask the other 6 sim cards we've done this with over the last week, I presume they've all be RICA'd on my name, so I should destroy them I presume ?

That would be preferable yes. Dont want it falling into a dodgy characters hands and then SAPS comes knocking on your door. Did you really go through 6 sims? I am really sorry about this warwick.

You might still be able to use those sims...but they will just be assigned new random Vodacom issued cell numbers.
