Vodacom network upgrades

If only they would try to avoid disruptions when they are NOT upgrading their network too.

Making phonecalls nowadays = 3 calls, first one directly to voicemail, second one tells me the subscriber I have dialed is not available, and third time it rings...

Bloody pathetic.

I hope they are going to upgrade the whole countrys network, and not just the City's. I saw the last upgrades that they did from 16 July to 4 August they were upgrading 8-14 base stations per day. So come on vodacom PLEASE DONT FORGET ABOUT US IN ABERDEEN! :)

Then I take it this is not the reason why I could not get my 3G card to work lastnight....

At least they bother to inform the public and have an actual link to information about upgrades. This is not the case with any other cell/data provider.

+100 Vodacom

I notice that their statement correctly uses "parts of Gauteng"
Please VC make your future plans available fot the rest of Gauteng.
Yesterday in Sunward Park, Boksburg your service speeds were so slow I could not even get onto Speedtest.net.
I get very angry when I have to pay full price for a service and only get a portion of what I pay for.

Agreed. A small congratulations to Vodacom. A welcome improvement in your communication to the public, albeit a small improvement.

Yes we do have Telkom ADSL but I told them to stick there service cause there was always problems (2 week without a connection)

with that said most of the town is using there mobile as modems only problem is that we got GPRS and Edge it is quite slow.

"Vodacom explained that while it will do its best to avoid disruptions during busy times, it is not always possible as tower maintenance and upgrades have to be performed during the day for safety reasons."

Another 'proudly South African' issue.

What are the chances that technicians from other continents will get robbed or killed while just doing their job?

You know, when hanging and working on a tower you want to clearly see what you're doing so daylight helps...

Do you now get what safety they are talking about?

If only I thought about that. Seems so obvious, doesn't it? :p

However, I am sure that is not the only reason why this was mentioned. Do you really think that the technicians would work on a tower at night in the middle of a township? Everyone in the vicinity would now the technicians would at least carry a couple of cellphones with them, which would mean easy pickings.
