Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

They are all working for me.

We lost a large number of towers in the southern part of Gauteng yesterday and it seems most of the people who complained about slow international speeds were indeed in these areas. But why this would be I can't figure.

In any case, I see the fault cleared early this morning, so hopefully everything is back for everyone?

Looks like all is back to normal this morning!!

Speeds are back to normal, too.

What a mess.... Been weeks of constant disconnects and slow through put.... Eventually thought I would try a dead end, and logged a call with the call centre. (155) (I have long past bitching here on this site). Initially got some decent service, including a follow-up call to verify where the nearest tower was in order for them to do some diagnostics to sort the problem out, with a promise of a call back once the problem has been sorted. Still waiting for the connection to be sorted........ Still waiting for the call (it's over a week now...). Wasting my data with constant reconnects (re-loading pages and restarting ftp'ing.....). But no worries because I've paid for the data upfront; so Voda is not losing a cent for a service I've paid for, but not getting!!!

Funny thing is that I experience the same problem making simple phone calls - constant disconnects. Last night my cell's signal went form full bars, to no bars, constantly through the evening!

My access in the Durbanville area is terrible the last few days... The connection keeps stalling - I have to reconnect, then 5 minutes later, the connection is dead again! Throughout is also much slower than usual.

Is there a problem? It is getting very irritating!

So it's not just me after all .... LOL

And here I thought i was the only one experiencing these issues for the last week/month/year .....

Welcome to Vodacom's 3G service at its best guys...

Dont even bother phoning 155 .... the recorded voice message says they are aware of throughput, timeouts and disconnects problems ........ in Gauteng . LOL. Then when i get to speak to a call centre person firstly they will say that the problem is isolated to my area, then they will make you believe that they will do something but they won't and they won't get back to you either ...

Same old **** every single day ...

Best broadband for your rand - BLA BLA BLA BLA - WHATEVER!!

It is strange, I used to have the same "connection stalling" problems about 1.5 years ago... Then it got sorted out, and was perfect until now... :(

Guys, please update your location fields so I can get a feel where you are when you post problems.

Also, while on a moan :), PLEASE, when you PM me include the info as per the template in my sig.

If I get a PM with a number and nothing else, it pretty much goes to the bottom of my to-do list as I now have to start searching for posts that might relate to the PM, cut and paste it all into a new mail, edit it and then pass it on.

But if you write me a PM with all the relevant information in such a way I can forward it directly, it helps a huge amount.

Remember you report one problem (your own) to me so you remember all the details.

My PM box often hit 500 and my short-term memory is long gone. :) So the easier you make it for me to help you (by giving ALL the details), the quicker we get things going.

And as always, first try and use the normal support channels, but if you get no joy, lets pick it up.

Dodgy and very slow in Hilton (KZN) tonight. Many 619 errors to connect but I'm on now. Upload are faster than downloads and every second speed test gives me downloads of 200kb/s for an HSDPA connection.

Service bad in Hillfox / Panorama area. Disconnects all the time and I mostly got bad GPRS this past week. 3G disconnects or you connect and remain connected but nothing (pages, etc.) loads!

I had to connect, reconnect, connect reconnect,... to place this message.

Hmmm... today (Saturday morning) everything seems fine... During the week (in the evenings) the connection kept stalling ad the speed was terrible. Maybe the area in Durbanville is just totally overloaded?

I'll check again in the week :)

Shocking still in Ballito.

Connection next to non-existent in Ballito.

I have the same problems. For the past 3 weeks, I loose my connection every few minutes. I am lucky if I stay connected for more than 10 minutes at a time.

As above

Still disconnecting every 10min. But hey, Vodacom is looking at it YAY!!

I did get the SMS to say "Dear customer we were unsuccessful in our attempts to contact you regarding the 3g data card connection. Please be advised that we are currently still investigating the Network problem in your area. Kind Regards, Vodacom Customer Care"

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Lets just hope you sort this out soon.

I'm in Parow-East - corner of West Str and Voortrekker Rd and I know that I'm on the border of the 3G reception on the map, but my 3G connection used to be fine (well relatively) for the last 13months, this k@k only started happening 2 weeks ago, so Vodacom must have done something.

Please sort it out.

Yep same here Primrose Hill area. Was great until about 3 to 4 days ago. and upload today is very slow... not to bad yesterday. Also disconnects or loses connection and using the modem in a router for the home office.
