What I have discovered is that using firefox the upload test on both vodacom (inconsistent) and speedtest (more often than not) gets to 100% but the test carries on (i.e. the upload speed fluctuates) and then I end up with a really bad upload score.
I suspect it's a problem with the flash on FF. Both sites use the same underlying test and it probably was written for flash in IE.

Try with IE (sorry!) and let us know.

I find this sometimes, not always, within FF. I don't think the flash implementation should differ between FF and IE, but I could be wrong.

My experience this week has been: very stable during the daytime; still some cases of a dropped session and/or difficulty reconnecting (619 errors) after 5pm. But I've always been able to connect (if I try enough times - up to 10 times!).

Have not had time to do a speed test. And I don't use 3G much in the evenings / the weekend.

One thing remains odd though: even when I can get connected, I can't reliably ping sites, even smtp.vodacom.co.za - pings are seriously erratic; sometimes only one ping in 10 gets a response.
Question to v3g: is that server always set to respond to pings? And/or is icmp traffic in a low QOS and likely to be dropped? That might have a certain logic - but we need monitoring & diagnosis tools as well.

Poor Speeds Still

Hi
I'm still having very slow speeds
I'm situated half way between 2 tx's Waterfall Shopping Centre ( 1Km ) and Linkhills ( 2Km ) Both are HSDPA enabled
Only get Green LED on Card
It took 4 attempts to load this reply page
At Home ( Paradise Valley ) things are fine
Things need to be done I need the speed at work

It's been a lot better, but I still have times in the evenings when I just can't connect at all (Southern Suburbs, prepaid, on cellphone not 3G card).

I'm assuming (hoping!) that not all of the fixes v3g mentioned have gone through yet, and that it will improve a lot more when they have.

Quite, there's still a fair amount of work being done.

hopefully all completed soon because last night everytime i opened a web page i got disconnected and had to reconnect again gave up after a while.

The old problems seem to have resurfaced again today after being fine for a few days. Losing 3G signal, getting disconnects and error 619's again.

Hi ic
If you read my discription properly I say " works OK at home "
and both towers give screen scroll " 3G & HDPSA enabled they have worked for 18 Months How do I check that setting anyway ?

I am 10km south of Pietermaritzburg. I have had the worst spate of persistent 619 errors yet and could not connect all afternoon, even though I had 5 bars and EDGE identified, not GPRS.

Was able to connect early evening about 18h30
