Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

V3G, I can't tell you in words how tired I am of this. Can we please get compensation, or do you just say - ag, screw them, as long as they make our coffers fuller.

Sounds a bit like you are implying that V3g controls Vodacom, which is a bit unfair.

On a separate note I notice that the SMS 100/balance enquiry has been taking 6 hours to respond. This surely is separate from any network connectivity issues?

One thing I like about Vodacom compared to the competition is the 100/balance and the 100/MYGIG etc. But it's only an attractive feature if the response period is a minute or two not hours.

Perhaps it's not always within Vodacom's control? I know we always used to say for critical applications SMS delivery is not even guaranteed. (If anyone knows please do correct me).

And how is it that my bank (FNB) deliver SMS info within a few minutes EVERY time I make a transaction?

Same here - had a 5 to 6 hour lag time on 100.

Will check what's going on with the SMS service.

Thanks:)

No way are we going to give up, while the exec's galavant all over the world with our money. I am sure after a profit of R6bn they can definitely compensate us. Somebody is going to pay for my dailup calls and that aint gonna be me, fo'sho.

You used it at your own discretion, so who do you expect to foot the bill?:p

Anyone else with connection problems?

Csnoopy, supersunbird, please PM me your names, data number and contact number.

Still can't connect here:
Data server not available.

Just tested from my phone. Will test from my E220 in a few minutes and post results.

If you still can't connect, PM me your data number(s), contact numbers and name, etc.

Tested for about 10 minutes on internet and internetvpn on GPRS and on 3G and was either connecting with no data coming through or was getting 619 errors. Just as I was about to give up, it works:)

Pages loading a bit quicker than normal as well:D

Edit: Speed results:D

Using dial-up, my decision yes. But it is Vodacom's fault that I have to use it. v3g has big shoulders he can handle it. Otherwise he wouldnt be here.

Sure GT is more preoccupied with those 'Architecture Students' nowadays....;)

GT, is your 3G still down? Where in Durbs are you?

Backups is what it is all about

Just amaizing how many people have backup facilities to be able to connect to the Internet etc. Imagine how many? people out there are pulling there hair out not knowing what to do.

We and I include v3g are trying to keep the network up. We giving feedback & lots of lip, and v3g trying to get it up and keep it up :p not that one you know what I mean.

Are you saying you can't connect because you don't have money in your account?

Earlier you said GRPS/3G is down.

Which is it?

Aag No man. GPRS/3G is still down and I am using Analogue Dialup. Why dont you take a brake, have rest and come back tomorrow. It might have fixed it self by then. Then all you have to do is tell us what was broken.

I have just tried GPRS/3G and it still is broken.

WTF happened to Vodacom this weekend, no download !! This is useless. I think a fixed line is a better option . Moving to Telkom ADSL . At least its up the whole time. Vodacom is always down when you need them

Vodacom SUCKS big time.!!!!

V3g'll definitely have to slow down to have a rest;)

What error messages are you getting?

Which speed option are you going with on ADSL 384kbps or 512 kbps maybe? After the downtime on Vodacom [which I assume was to upgrade the network] I'm getting 1800+kbps:D Good things come to all those who wait;)

Don't knowyet but even the 384kbps will be more reliable. If VC is up its very fast and thenI'm constantly getting 1500+kbps. The big problem is the reliability and I think VC needs to still show that.

Can't argue with you about the reliability issue, and I'm pretty sure VC are aware of this and only over a period of time can they improve the situation.
