Latest Promotion from you know who !!!!!

@ Csnoopy, any speed test results to us  ?:D
Yes. Look in the speedtest thread. I had peaks going up to 2550kbps :D This I only experienced after 12 last night when the 3G system came back up. Oh by the way the system is down at the moment. I have a sneaky feeling these Vodacom guys did some speed trials for 8 hours & are now reverting back. Thank goodness for the old faithful DIALUP. I will have to put a claim into Vodacom for the calls, I have had to make via Dialup everytime there systems go belly up. They advertise no more pay for time only for data, not true at all, currently I am paying for time not data. Maybe what they need to do is do a promotion (so they can be first in the market) on buy Broadband and get a dialup & account & R100 voucher for dailup calls for free as backup when the broadband goes. That is what is done with routers and adsl modems. "Vodacom a monthly royalty kickback for this idea is in order." I could live of that easily. :D
Remeber now, this is my idea.

Bit slow but it works.

Vodacom systems Down again up North (here)

How are you guys doing down South? Looks like VC relocated your faulty kit to test it in the North to confirm the state of the equipment.:p

2Gig PPDB Scottsville Pietermaritzbburg

Still the same as yesterday: Connects at 1.8MBs no problem, takes forever to resolve DNS (using ping / tracert to test) but NO thruput

C'mon guys I need to use up my PPDB before Tuesday (or are you implementing ROLLOVER :D )

Status on all this V3G?

Call 155 and tell them if you are unable to work/use your bundle you want bundle ROLLOVER or the equivalent in Rands credited to your sim account. Have you registered on vodacom4me?, If not you better do so chop chop. What ever is free take it you have already paid for it.

Thanks. Yes, registered on V4Me. Use it to track my usage.

No worries, if things are still down 2mrow I will be calling 155 and making some arrangements ;)

Just curious as to why it's been "out" for so long. I have been using 3G since last year June and apart from a lot of instability when HSDPA first came on stream things have been good. It's essentially a "backup" to my WISP setup and obviously get's used when I travel ...

Odd that I can connect no problem (most common error is the dreaded 619) but from there ... Something in their "backbone" ... Maybe they forgot to pay SAIX

I don't think so coz I cannot even ping the smtp server. I suppose it depends on where they are located on the web. No that part of the company now belongs to MTN so they blocked Vodacom from using that service. he he he.

Yesterday's problems in Gauteng were caused by an internal system of some sort on our side. Could have afected Natal as well.

But this morning's is due to work Telkom was doing to their lines (and running late) affecting about 100 sites in the Pta / Midrand area. Sounds like it should all be up again. Can you guys confirm?

WRX1KNP, I'm looking into your problem. If you think it's DNS, can you connect directly to an IP?

Been down the whole day here as well (or at least till late this afternoon, I did not try after 4PM).

Connects OK but NO thruput.

Only reason I know is that I have 700Mb still on my Bundle, expires 25th, so wanting to do some P2P TV show downloads

Oh, well - at least my WISP (GWI) connection is working. Normally the other way round ;)

Can you PM me your data sim number?

OK, its still not up here in Scottsville. Same deal, connects (either 3G or GPRS) but no traffic. Tried to connect to our FTP Server (Hetzner Germany) by IP and "Server Not Found" (FileZilla).

Tried with both 3G & GPRS.

If I look at NetMeter (which I run while using 3G): Only shows green spikes (that's data out - "Upload") no red (data in "Download"). So seems traffic goes out but nothing gets back ...

Strange that it connects (the RAS Server "authenticate" part) tho, surely that's bidirerctional traffic?

Got the SMS OK (21st) to say: "You have a 654 MB Data Bundles available which expires on the 2007-09-26."

You will have my sim number via PM shortly.

Thanks!

Can you connect to any other websites?

I know a number of sites were affected, maybe you're not up yet.

With 40cs on my phone I really cant go online, not at R2 MB...

Whats the cellphone gprs setup thing again? *155*? I want to test it on other phone with more money
