Vodacom Select vs DStv Compact

I can't believe that MNET have a whole slot dedicated to infomercials... What do you pay for?
I have kids - you can probably guess what one set is usually tuned to. . . cartoons. :o

I have not watched a single thing on MNET in all the time I have had DSTV.
Not one thing.

Sure I may be a small minority here, but that is what different packages cater for.

Thats because Mnet shows all the best stuff from DSTV, all the series and movies, without repeating them hundreds of times, and only showing the best (well most popular) new series.

If you have DSTV you don't need to watch anything on MNet, thats why you don't buy both seperately. Of course then DSTV has a lot more extra...

Vodacom DSTV Special

I read all the comments posted and wanted to subscribe to the vodacom dstv offer but, I phoned vodacom to ask if this can include dual view and it took them 28 minutes to come to the conclusion that it's not possible.

I thought the service would be better than phoning mnet for assistance. Yea it's a pity that the mnet channel is not included..........

Yet again Vodacom are gonna make money out of People that are too dumb and blind to see that this is a bloody total rip off.. Even the DSTV Compact is a load of Hog Wash..

Unfortunately they will always have success with **** like this because like i said people are blind and dumb... and as long as there are those certain individuals Monopolies will keep getting richer and more outrageous :(

Personally, if I wanna watch something, I download it :D No adds, No Lies and no time restraint as to when to watch what.

Anyway thats my 2c worth

Not impressed at all with those offerings!

The table neglects to include the differences in DMX audio. Vodacom select only offers 4 DMX channels. DSTV Compact offers the full range of DMX channels including all the radio stations like 702, Jacaranda, BBC etc.

There's no dmx channels for "compact",only the radio channels.

The Vodacom (Ssa) sports channel is a bit of an unknown. We do know it doesn't broadcast their own Vodacom sponsored matches - which is pretty daft. Apart from that there is not information.

You refering to Super Sport Action, will this be a new channel?

Just give me SS1-3 and I will pay R139! :p

Ouch, I am one of the people you are calling dumb and blind. FYI I am neither dumb, nor blind. Don't presume that just because this offer does not suit you, doesn't mean it won't be just fine for others.

I unfortunately can't afford DSTV. SABC 1 - 3 is shocking. E-TV is almost as bad, but not quite. I'm entertainment starved. Just Mnet Series and Action X is worth R139 to me. So I'm very pleased with this new offering. I'm waiting for 1st August when ADSL pricing hopefully goes down, to possibly take up this offer.

I've always been a strong supporter of choosing your own channels. Not sure that will ever happen, but if it does, Multichoice will have a huge signup.

Ditto - or even choosing a package that suits your needs - for one thing I dont really need all the sports channels (SS and ESPN would be fine).

VQuest - well, glad I am not hte only one.
I also think its a deal.
We only ever watched:
Series
ActionX
BBC Food
With a smattering of some other things from time to time.
I eventually cancelled as R500 or so a month was a waste for all that.

Also, I am pretty sure Vodacom did some research into this before spending mega$ on something no one would want.

If only the Vodacom package has discovery or the history channel! That would have made the swap from DSTV compact worth it for myself.

For me I only use my DSTV for 2 things:

1. Live news: BBC news + CNN
2. Live Sport: SuperSport 1-6

Where is that for R199 per month???

The rest of the programs I will get from the internet and watch when I want, not when you decide I can.

WAKE UP! Monochoice, it's a brave new on-Demand TV world. Broadcasting outside of live events is going the way of the Dodo!!!

Don't be Dodo's

Yeah I wish Multichoice would just let go and give us CHOICE. Sky in the UK has different "mixes" (I think it's called that) that customers can mix and match to their liking and pay accordingly which is great.

VQuest is right, Multichoice would probably double up their user base if they just gave US the choice of what we wanna watch. More subscribers = more money = HBO and Comedy Central (SCi Fi too!) so I hope they take their fingers out their ___ and start giving us what we want.

pick your channels and they for what you want!
